Re:Linux users need not apply
In fact Linux users can use Vsound http://www.zorg.org/vsound/index.shtml to save real player stream as a wav file, which I don't think Windows users can.

Re:What does it matter?
You have just reminded me of some old Unix jokes: Politically Correct Unix. Here is one:
Traditionally, "normal video" (as opposed to "reverse video") was white on black. This implicitly condoned European colonialism, particularly with respect to people of African descent. UNIX System VI now uses "regressive video" to refer to white on black, while "progressive video" can be any color at all over a white background.
There are some gems on that site, and in its parent folder as well (more Unix jokes).

This American Life
My favorite "story" radio show is This American Life. You can download the shows from Audible for a fee, or, if you're using Linux, you could use something like VSound to get them for free.

Re:I have tried
If you want to install Debian on an SGI Indy, then you will need to create or buy a serial cable that connects from your PC (25 Pin DB25 Plug) to the SGI Indy (8 Pin Mini DIN).
The terminal should be connected to the Indy's first serial port and configured as 9600 8N1 with hardware flow control off. Use minicom to see the boot up messages.
This is the minimum you need to do btw. You can follow the entire procedure at http://www.zorg.org/linux/indy.shtml

Re:Space War Analogy is badYeah, I think that I've played Space War on just about every computer that I've ever owned. First, on a TRS-80, then on DOS and Windows machines, and finally on Linux.
There are lots of clones on Space War out there. There's a java version that supposed runs the original on a PDP emulator, but I can't get it to work - probably a java VM problem. KDE also has an updated clone with prettier graphics called kspaceduel (apt-get install kspaceduel).
