Internet Freedom Journalism Awards
Internet Freedom
("the voice of free speech")
announced its
winners of the 1999 Journalism Awards.
Awards went to
Courtney Macavinta
for investigative journalism on the net,
Salon
for being an organization with high standards in writing, and my friend
Keith Dawson
for being an individual with high standards in writing. We won't embarrass the winner of the award for "Internet Article of Shame" by
repeating it here - if you want to know,
go see for yourself.
That's kind of sad.
Very interesting awards, to say the least. Is it really worth it, though, to make an "Award of Shame"? It really makes the entire effort seem rather juvenile-- "here, let's make fun of those who oppose us". Couldn't that time be better spent, say, getting petitions signed (not the online kind) to take before congress when they vote on SAFE?
SECOND!!!!!!
