Distributed.net CSC Winner Found
Nugget94M writes "distributed.net has finally gotten in touch with the winner of the CSC project. His name is Paul Ilardi,
and he's a first-year grad student at the University of Rochester, Computer Science Department. After digging through his proxy logs, he's been able to track the winning block down to a Sparc Ultra 1, and has snapped a picture of the machine that found the winning key."

ANNOUNCEMENT!
Why Slashdot Should Sell Gateway Computers
Smargles agree that, while they too are superior to all, the Gateway computer is the perfect choice for anyone thinking about purchasing a new computer.
No intelligent non-smargle would listen to the misinformed Slashdotters who preach about building your own computer from the ground up. Why would anyone do that? Even the Slashdot editors wouldn't do that! The secret to a new computer is to buy from Gateway.
If Slashdot was to sell Gateway computers, then every time an intelligent non-smargle purchased a Gateway computer from Slashdot, they would be giving Slashdot money and encouraging Slashdot's most important and respected people, such as Jon Katz, to continue with the excellent work that everyone loves and appreciates.
Plus, each cowbox comes with the best and most stable operating system, Microsoft Windows 98 Special Edition, preinstalled and setup!
You may now look to your right.
Thank you.
