From David Brownlee, via the NetBSD announce mailing list "The Canadian Special Olympics 2000 Winter Games run from Jan. 25 to 29 in Ottawa, Ontario. They are using NetBSD servers to provide connectivity, file storage, and results posting for event officials, media, and athletes." And more details on the games are available as well.

I was thinking earlier... Even if some people think Richard Stallman is a commie or socialist or disagree with the GPL or anything he says, I think he still deserves respect for what he does (besides the ranting) and what he doesn't do (like not accepting money from the FSF because it would be a conflict of interest). Even if you don't particularly like emacs or gcc (I don't), most people (especially most slashdot readers) haven't/won't write anything as important or widely used. RMS never claimed that gcc was a good compiler (it those cygnus boneheads who claimed egcs would be the best compiler anywhere).

Of course, Eric Raymond... If anybody deserves to get hit in the face with a brick, it's that self-serving troll.

Is it really news that NetBSD will be at the special Olympics? Does slashdot post a story everytime Linus Torvalds takes a shit? Don't you know what "editorial discretion is"?

Yeah, I think it is. With Linux getting all the press these days every little bit of *BSD news valuable.
