Embedded Design Contest Update
Carlie Fairchild writes: "Big Mouth Billy Bass as a webcam? This and 99 other projects were selected as finalists in Embedded Linux Journal's "Win a MZ104 -- Embedded Linux Design Contest". The contest is based on products by
Tri-M, ZF Linux Devices, BlueCat and M-Systems. One hundred finalists have been selected to receive kits and build
the projects submitted in their proposals. A full list of the finalists' names, titles of their projects, project descriptions and project URLs can be found at
[the linuxjournal site]."

Even slashdot.xml says there's no comments in this article?!
I wonder what's up with the site..?

A webcam shouldn't be a finalist in an embedded Linux contest! A webcam doesn't show the power of Linux. Most webcams I've seen don't use an operating system, but instead a simple microcontroller with USB support.
Sorry, folks. Some idiot with a backhoe took out half the Sprint backbone again.
Move along, there's nothing to see here.

A /. story that pertains to Linux is practically ignored?? Maybe all the sterotypes I've heard about /. are wrong. I guess I need to check the UF archives again.

EMYL,
didn't start accepting comments until today. Why that is nobody really knows. I wish someone on /. high would put an " Update: " up...
Saw the ad, thought it would make a good subject since it fits so well in my message. Anway, WTF happened to this story? NOBODY said anything. Heck, I didn't even see it until now - even though I check /. many times a day! Anybody know (here it comes...) WTF happened?
The problem with capped Karma is it only goes down...

But the Question is whether they'll be actually able to build and run their projects. If they do so we'd have made many giant leaps forward.
There's always sufficient, but not always at the right place nor for the right folks.
