Genetically Altered Pigs Cloned

Epona writes: "The Washington Post has an article about cloning genetically altered pigs. They were cloned by the same company that cloned Dolly a few years back, and they hope to eventually use the pigs for organ transplants." Xenotransplantation isn't exactly new, but it's been out of public view for a while. (Cliff the Ask Slashdot guy lives in the same town; hopefully he's not looking for a new heart, though.)

    Good thing they're cloning pigs- when we all have the munchies after that last story, I'm sure as hell gonna need a buncha pork rinds.

    I have been thinking abot all this cloning and genetics research, and the other day I thought of something, what would a human look like with two Y chomosomes?

    All women have two X chomosomes, their egg always cairries an X.

    Men have an X and a Y, and the sperm may carry either.

    Of course because always have X it has been inmpossible in the past to generate offspring with a YY configuration, but what would a YY man be like? Naturally, no femenine side whatsoever. Given the lack of logic and reason displayed in most women, would a YY be superintelligent, Superstrong? Super-sterile?

    My mind boggles.

    I believe the danger they were investigating was that humans with these transplants may become susceptible to a mutation of foot and mouth disease. In the worst case scenario the virus could further mutate and spread to the rest of humanity.

    This may or may not be valid and I do not have the knowledge to debate that validity. However it seems obvious that we must be more careful about these sorts of things because of the simple fact that there are no precendents!

    This glowing is actually a saftey feature ... The genetic engineers anticipated the procedure being performed in california ... this way when the power goes out ...
