Open Source Bioinformatics Report

An unnamed reader writes: " Bioinformatics.org has a story outlining recent activity in open source software development within the discipline of bioinformatics. The report covers a recent meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark called the Bioinformatics Open Source Conference, and describes a large number of projects and groups important to bioinformatics open source development. Most interesting was the appendix describing important online biological data sources. A student at Stanford University wrote the full report."

Wow! This thread really is a hot-bed of discussion and discourse!! Maybe the editors might consider placing some of these 'developer' stories on the front page...for fuck's sake...a minor point release of the linux kernel warrants a front page story and 300 comments; why can't you put a story about open source software in what will probably be one of the most important areas of science in the 21st century somewhere else except hidden amongst a bunch of crap about Oracle JDeveloper beta releases and fucking Apacge security hole fixes!
