Celestial Double Feature

stitzman writes: "I can't believe nobody has submitted news about the eclipse yet, but I haven't seen anything. The first part of this article on CNN is about the Geminids, but the second half is about the solar eclipse on Friday afternoon. Cool stuff."

Wow, what a great year for celestial activities. I'll definitely be checking out the Geminids and I hope that I'm not to far east to see the eclipse. An eclipsing sunset sounds like a once in a lifetime sighting!

      Whoops.

make sure to delete the space in the last part of the url (in "skyevents"). Slash is formatting it in automatically.

Thanks for the link! I've been unsucessfully looking for a local timetable for a half an hour. I should have known to check the slashdot story in the first place.

If you look through the actual disk part of a floppy diskette (Either 5.25 or 3.5 size), you will see the sun as a red circle, and you can safely watch the eclipse through them.

Can't say if the diskette will survive, never tried it with one I liked.
