Rubicon 2002, Detroit Michigan April 5-7th
bsd writes: "Rubi Con is invading Detroit, MI again. This year it is April 5-7th. Rubi Con is a yearly technology conference with a focus on data and network security. This is Rubi Con's 4th year in existance. With over 60 speakers it will be 72 hours of fun. Maybe we will see some of the Slashdot Mob there?

Rubi Con is about knowledge. It is about opening doors and it is about understanding your world, the world of technology, in new ways. Rubi Con is a yearly technology conference with a focus on data and network security. We celebrate the duality between IT professionals --those who keep people out-- and the underground computer "hackers" --those who try to get in. To us, they are two sides of the same coin. We believe that by bringing them together, each can learn an amazing amount. Our goal is to teach --through a variety of expert speakers, panels, workshops, games, and other means-- and to foster an environment where people aren't afraid to ask --and learn-- from their neighbors.
Yes, they are 100% buzzword compliant. Now what is the conference good for?
"We went to Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor was closed. We went to Chicago, Chicago was broken." (And in old Chitown, we also got a flat tire on the Loop during rush hour when we hit a pothole hard enough to jar everyone's back teeth.) Having spent a week and a half in the downtownish area of Detroit, I can safely say that apart from the beautiful old churches nothing could draw me back there. Paranoia? Hardly -- just common sense.
Fuck Slashdot
... it has gotten better each year. i am going to try to plan to make it up this. the last couple years i haven't been able to. does anybody else have comments about last year's conference...
thanks

Yeah, but it's not in a ghetto hotel this year! Nothing beats roof access that nobody gives a shit about. Watching the drizzle fall on the city from up there was a hell of a way to relax in the middle of a stressful con.
I don't think the Marriott will be so amused. On the other hand, there's a Starbuck's within easy range for any clever wireless user.
Oh god no.
:)
I wonder if NFF would have still chosen the cathetor over her
