Early Registration for European BSD Conference 2002

Walter Belgers writes "This year, the European BSD Conference will be held in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Friday November 15 is a tutorial day, Saturday and Sunday are filled with interesting lectures about FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD and MacOS X, and a keynote by Mike Karels. This is your chance to learn from BSD developers and see how other BSDs are doing. Early registration is open until October 18th. For more information, see the website."

Well, supposedly, FreeBSD is very suitable for i386's (although, I believe, also available on Alpha) and provides some binary compatibility with Linux and SCO, while NetBSD focuses on portability; almost any machine will run it. OpenBSD split off of the NetBSD branch late, so it's quite portable, but it has a focus on security. As we all know, Darwin is designed merely as a base for Mac OS X.

I realise that I'm responding to a rather consistent troll, but a question about these posts has been on the back of my mind for a while now. That is, why exactly do you care? I mean, I don't like Linux or Windows or whatnot, so I don't use them. I do not post on /. about how they're dying or what's wrong with them. So, why exactly do you care about the life or death of BSD? Maybe you have some personal experience with them, or with their developers that clouds your judgement? Maybe you are forced to use a BSD at work? Maybe you are bitter that Apple chose BSD as the basis for their new OS? Maybe a BSD developer stole your last girlfriend? What's up?

oh well, maybe they will grow up eventually, of course more jackasses will replace them. its a shame, oh well, im over it. and if they dont grow up, maybe they will die in a car accident.
