Bionic Chess Interface
FFriedel writes "For over two years now ChessBase
has been working on Brutus,
a 'mini Deep Blue' running on an FPGA platform. What is taking them so long? Apparently the project has moves in a somewhat different direction. The author of Brutus, Dr Christian Donninger, revealed he was approached by the US National Science Foundation to participate in the development of a bionic chess interface."
"The electrodes that are inserted into the hippocampus are microscopic in size and delivered to their final place through a thin injection needle. The skull and cranium cavities are not opened, the entire procedure is performed under local anasthetics."
I doubt that we will ever figure out - and I suspect that even if we did figure out we couldn't do much about it
Damn April Fools day...is this a joke or not!?
Yet another april fools. The pictures taken from this article. Yesterday was completely ludicruous, and it seems that today will be only marginally better. *sigh*
I first read that as Bionic Cheese Interface, and spent far too much time pondering why someone would want bionic cheese...
Under capitalism man exploits man. Under communism it's the other way around.
... ought to stop once it becomes 2nd of April!
Once you start reading the article it all makes sense, but once they start throwing in chess-playing rats that are more interested in their food it gets obvious.

They used the names of actually professors who have relevant research areas in the article. Besides the blatently stolen newscientist diagram and the 3 minute photo shopped rat picture, it was generally a good hoax. And it will only become more believable as time goes on.
I want a blackjack interface please!
