MWVLUG Site Returns

Cooper Stevenson writes "The Mid-Willamette Valley Linux User's Group (MWVLUG) web page is back online. The site contains all the archived material from the Oregon Legislation material such as the Online version of the "Open Source Impact" CD we gave to Oregon Senators and Representatives, the main legislation page, a great presentation on building a spam/virus relay server, and more."

    • What a great idea! You've just managed to get your site back on-line (mind you, I don't remember why it was off-line to begin with), and in a fit of nihilism, you post to Slashdot about it. That's a great way to ensure that it doesn't, say, get... knocked offline by the hordes of Slashdotting barbarians.

And now... I'll actually go look at it.

Yes, this is obviously a very popular article. Hopefully not everyone that posted a comment clicked on the links, or they're shure to be slashdotted.

    Build a spam/virus relay server:
    1) Install any windows.
    2) Connect to internet.
    3) Like most people, never patch.

I understand your pride of having the website up and running, but how exactly does this relate to slashdot worthy news? These type of resources are available pretty much anywhere except the 8 dimension where they have problems with censorship. Well, Good luck i guess. And oh, BOOYAH!

Ok, so we establish that this server or at least their website was once offline? Why was it offline, I guess its time to start searching/sifting Slashdot. I still can't seem to find why it was ever offline.

Second, what is going on with that link, on a great presentation on how to make a spam/virus relay. That was probably the most awful slide presentation I've ever subjected myself to.

All in all, I still think it is right for me to support LUGs, no matter how lame/stupid their /. posts are. None the less it looks like it is a somewhat informative website. I wish there were some local LUGs up here, I haven't seemed to find any.
