Propose by PDA, Valentine's Day Gaming Tips
Ellen Spertus writes "Astraware is offering a special Valentine's Day version of Bejeweled (one of the most popular PDA games) with an embedded marriage proposal you can enable." Elsewhere, Warcry has a Valentine's Day gaming article, including gamer gift picks and "Gaming as a Couple: A How To Article", including advice such as "Be willing to negotiate play schedules and set time limits up front", and, most importantly, "Never choose games over your partner." Update: 02/14 18:07 GMT by S : Blizzard also has Valentine's Day fun on its official site, including a special Warcraft III map for Valentine's Day.
You might be a geek if...
I'm getting my advice from PA already
* FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT.
Pick some old-skool versus classic; for example, SUPER STREET FIGHTER II, or THE KING OF FIGHTERS 99. Have no mercy, kick your significant other's arse! It is a great way to show your affection! Of course, this is assuming both are hardcore gamers, so neither will win all the time. This way, you will respect each other more... and want to kick each other's arse more frequently, which means more gaming!
* BLAST OFF THE BYRDO EMPIRE, OR SOMETHING
No question about it, get a shmup - IKARUGA is just perfect - and, again, play as well as humanly possible. Again, assuming neither is a game n00b. If you two can play IKARUGA together and one-credit it on hard mode, that means you are the ultimate hardcore gaming couple: go get married, you were obviously born to each other!
Circumcision is child abuse.
you know, that's probably one of the best dorky games ideas yet. i know when my wife was introduced to bejewled, i couldn't pry her away from it for quite some time.... that and mahjong.
game developers should really think about this at some point. she really likes games that scale up the difficulty slowly, reward often, and don't require reflexes (ie, the turns aren't timed). if they could rewrap a war game like axis and allies into something that wasn't a quest for world domination, she'd be all over it.
It's just society and the media collectively pointing and laughing at anyone who's single and lonely.
Help I'm a rock.
Just be careful not to let it get too competitive. You don't need high tension and flaring tempers if one of you does significantly better than the other. Remember, it's all a game, it's all for fun, and you care about each other, not about upstaging each other.

She may be willing to give an hour of gaming together if he gives her an hour of talking with no distractions.
ITYM "an hour of listening with no distractions."
Rob (sorry, Chris Rock)
It's amusing to note the couples based solely upon the imaginations of the players (and fanfic writers.)

oh.. sheesh. geek.
From the Article:
"Get him what he really wants. Preorder Halo 2 at Amazon.com..."
What a crock. This is nothing but an advertisement, not actual suggestions about anything useful.
Valentines day is just another day that various industries put pressure on you for mandatory consumerism.
