Mandrake is all well and good, but I really don't want anyone encouraging Lunix nerds to wear chaps at the beach.

Some of the newer bit torrent clients like Bit Tornado and Azereus will allow you to set the priority for downloading specific files within a torrent. You could set your first CD as low priority or not to download and have it work on fetching the others.

You might even be able to fool bit torrent into thinking that the file for CD1 is done by copying it into the folder it creates for Mandrake 10.1 Beta.

Either way you'll help out the BT network

KDE 3.3 is a big improvement over previous versions, especially regarding speed. The KDE project has released betas and will have a release candidate in the next couple of days. I wonder why Mandrake didn't include this in their beta?

When making a beta, you are mainly in bug fixing and stabilising mode -- that means, you don't go changing major variables all the the time, or at least not all at once. KDE 3.2 is known to be stable. After Mandrake has the bugs worked out of the first beta, they may very well well include KDE 3.3.

I doubt it. Mandrake seemed slow on releasing new versions compared to other distros. Maybe you have to join the club for them. When I was using Mandrake 10 just a month ago they still had only KDE 3.2. If you want bleeding edge in one of those "easy" distros, go with Fedora and see how everything is half-broken. I don't think it would be a wise move for them to release the beta with KDE 3.3.

However, Once they release the stable KDE 3.3 I'll upgrade.

Any chance that they got PS/2 mice working properly again? With 10.0, mine stopped working, while they worked fine in the previous release. 10.0 is really crappy.

But I booted into x-windows and ran Mandrake Setup and picked boot, and re-installed Grub on my main partition. Worked perfectly.

Didn't have any apic/lapic or apci problems on this install, Release 10 would freeze if you didnt give it the command lines. (Also a small font install issue)

Still my favorite Distro, updates are not on all the mirrors yet, so I couldnt do an after install update. I doubt there would be any 1 day updates anyways....
