First Post? Played the Demo on the PS2 Burnout 3 game... good stuff, more of an adventure mode. But tweaking of cars stats and handling may still be weak.

what was boring in nfs:u was that what you could buy was limited(for the time it kept me intrested I could practically buy every addon i was 'allowed' to.. loving the street rod spirit that majorly sucked).

meh. i played the demo in this months playstation mag. It was ok i guess. After playing such a bad*ss game like burnout 3, my view of other racing games generally sucks.

Is there a x86-64 Linux version?

Hey, I AM being realistic here. If I was not realistic I would ask for the alpha/*BSD version. That implies that I would actually be able to find a decent video card / drivers for it.

But in all seriousness, will there be a Linux version (even 32 bit?) With quite a few games running natively on linux, one would figure the companies might start doing it as a fad.

But hey it probably uses directX, so no cigar. One more sale they will not have.

But the Alpha doesn't have an AGP slot. ATI has made some higher end PCI cards, but not all of them are compatible with the Alpha. Most video cards need their BIOS to be executed to set up some defaults. The Alpha has a small x86 emulator just for running expansion card BIOSes. But it is very limited and doesn't handle the most modern cards.

So finding a video card for Alpha/*BSD doesn't just mean having the driver source (binary blobs are totally out), but actually getting the machine to boot with the card in, first.

You can't expect a major game to come to linux, unless the game is made by Id.

Though personally I still don't think linux is ready for high end gaming anyway. Now this is mostly due to drivers and a confusing install process for newbs to people who are proficient in windows.

Now we won't start seeing more games move to linux until installation becomes easier (both for drivers and software) and linux is being used in a large portion of average American homes, which will just take time and improved interfaces.

What I'd like to know is did they upgrade their god-awful UI and game menus?

I'm having a real hard time thinking of a game that had a worse user interface and menu navigation. It sucked beyond belief. A menu system 10 levels deep and sometimes over 20 chioces on each level, and all you can see is the current selection and two immediately next to it. A nightmare. The person responsible should suffer public humiliation.

The game looks like they spent two years on developing gameplay (which is great, unless you play as a single player, but I won't go into that), and then hacked the menu system in two days.
