Art Meets Geek in Pac-Man
AnCatDubh writes "The New York Times (reg required) is running an article about online art-game hybrid Pac-Mondrian. From the article: "Why is Pac-Mondrian attracting more art types than gaming types? Maybe it's because Pac-Mondrian has more to say about Mondrian's painting than about Pac-Man." Are classic video games the new decontructionist tool?"
The game is pretty cool, but whoever wrote that NYT article needs to stick their head in a bucket of cold water.
Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum sonatur.
I couldn't RTFA because I'm still using my soul. The game is interesting. As for this being at new deconstructionist artform? This time its fairly original. Next time? YAWN.
The music alone makes it worth playing. Even if it wasn't particularly challenging, this was great fun. These guys are brilliant! Boogie piano is perfect for arcade games!
Three Squirrels
There are plenty of Mondrains that would have worked, so why only one level? Also, it is rather easy, because you only have 4 ghosts, and the level is much larger than the normal Pac-Man level.
Why is Pac-Mondrian attracting more art types than gaming types? Maybe it's because Pac-Mondrian is just plain boring as hell to actually play.
Pretty damn lame.
It's probably a fluke, but I had this idea last year! Click here. Check the short flash presentation at the bottom. We had to propose an installation for a gallery for one of our classes. Bah...I should've gone forward with it.
