What The Hack?
handverbrennung writes "Summer 2005 will feature the next incarnation of the ultimate Hackers Gathering, WhatTheHack. For those unfamiliar with WhatTheHack or one of its predecessors (HAL, HEU, HIP), please visit whatthehack.org. As with previous nerd events the Hacktrain will be available to pick you up and deliver you at the camping grounds. And this year it's better
than before, with a new train, more space, more power, an Internet connection, internal LAN and more to make your travel more fun! For more information, including the registration form, please visit
hacktrain.de/en/."
Let's get all the hackers in one place all at once...
Every time something cool like this comes up, it's several thousand miles away from me. Stateside we've got convention after convention, but all the fun stuff is in Europe. Beer hikes, cartoon sheep over WiFi... geez. Time to change my citizenship.
For those unfamiliar with WhatTheHack or one of its predecessors (HAL, HEU, HIP), please visit whatthehack.org
Or you could just give us a hint, you know.
The story says: "For those unfamiliar with WhatTheHack or one of its predecessors (HAL, HEU, HIP), please visit whatthehack.org." And the website has only one sentence: "Sorry, but we're working hard on making a real website. At this moment you can subscribe to to the announce mailinglist to hear the news when it's available." So the question is: what the hell is it??? Is it something about hacking or cracking? Is it a joke to not say anything about it at all, only to make people ask "what the heck?" Could someone please explain WTF is this story about and why it is so important to be on the frontpage? Thanks.
Oh yes, the website is really helpful: [WTHFlyer.jpg] Sorry, but we're working hard on making a real website. At this moment you can subscribe to to the announce mailinglist to hear the news when it's available
Now if we could only do this in the United States--nah, that would just make the DHS jumpy.
SJW: a person who perceives an injustice, and while correcting it, commits a greater injustice.
The website for the new event is quite boring, yes. But just have a look at www.hal2001.org or hal2001.drno.de - they will give you a lot of information what was going on the last time - and it will be nearby the same this year. I am really looking forward to this event. fh.
this is what I said when I ran an unpatched XP box on the internet after a few minutes...
at http://www.hal2001.nl/ there are some links to the older camps. Its about camping, hacking, hearing speakers, getting internet, and all that stuff. Also there was an own radio sattion and an own phone network (for wireless dect/gap phonesas well) as wellt.(at the last ccc canmp there was also an own gsm node from a big german provider, for having a better connetion). regards, enno
