Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Site Live
The official site for Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is now live, with trailers and information now available. Unfortunately, the site makes heavy use of Flash and a fast connection is likely required to make effective use of the site.
already - atleast the trailer seems to be. Is there any way to rip the trailer or its url out of the swf so that I cna host it elsewhere?
The trailer is definitely hott (with two T's, of course). While it was all rather quick, it looked to me like the fight sequences combined some innovative camera maneuvers that I haven't really seen before. The fact that things aren't limited by what a camera can physically do, combined with the stylized artwork of the characters (not as "realistic" as the first Final Fantasy tried to be), could be quite refreshing in the theatre.
The streaming trailer is dying on my puny shared DSL connection. I know you can download the full trailer for free somewhere, but from the few frames that load up, it looks like the same one up Gamespot and elsewhere. Everything else says "coming soon."
At the time of this post, most of the sections of the site are unavailable with a 'coming soon' sign on them.
Is that what you would call a "live site with trailers and information *now* available" ??

Let's see. Trailer that's already been released. No release date on site. All menu options besides previously released trailer say "coming soon".
:rolls eyes:
And this is news?!
Oh, right, it's from Square-Enix. So it must be interesting.
As usual, Square's JP site is so much better.

Why doesn't Slashdot automatically append .nyud.net:8090 to every URL to prevent slashdotting?
Ugh. At least in FF7, character faces were simple. But now that the designers have so much more detail to work with, they went and made everyone so damn weird-looking.
When you play FF7, you never give a thought to whether Cloud and Sephiroth were ass-faced baboons. As a matter of fact, you tend to get the idea that somehow Cloud and Sephiroth would look about as handsome as they are cool, because even though their designs were very simple, other characters treated them this way. But Advent Children just comes out and shows you how ugly they are, with no regrets, and you're supposed to like it because, "ooh, polycount!"
Fuck that. Cloud's hair looks like a joke when portrayed in a realistic style (as opposed to the cartoon style of FF7), his clothes look like he took a long time to make them himself (sewing various Hot Topic crap together - in the dark), and why TF does Sephiroth look like he's addicted to plastic surgery?
If the PC version of FFVII that was released years ago will run on Win XP? I'd like to see if I can find a copy and play through it again before the movie comes out, and I'd rather not have to get a Playstation to do it.

This isn't the sig you're looking for. Move along.
Ugh. At least in FF3, character faces were simple. But now that the designers have so much more detail to work with, they went and made everyone so damn weird-looking.
When you play FF3, you never give a thought to whether the protagonist and the antagonist were pixelated baboons. As a matter of fact, you tend to get the idea that somehow the protagonist and the antagonist would look about as 3D as they are cool, because even though their designs were very simple, other characters treated them this way. But FF7 just comes out and shows you how ugly they are in 3D, with no regrets, and you're supposed to like it because, "ooh, polycount!"
Fuck that. the protagonist's hair looks like a joke when portrayed in a 3D style (as opposed to the cartoon style of FF3), his clothes look like he took a long time to make them himself (sewing various Hot Topic crap together - in the dark), and why TF does the antagonist look like he's addicted to plastic surgery?
Great, mad libs is supposed to be clever now. Well, it's never taken much as far as fanboys go.
I'm not saying that additional detail is an experience killer when it comes to 3D modeling. It's not. I'm talking about the ugly character designs in FF7AC making everyone look weird for no reason. Of course, there's such thing as creative license. And then there's my right to have an opinion that creative license was used poorly, because of the ugly results.
Back to the mad libs, you have to actually make it sound credible in order for it to be anything close to clever. The copy/paste job you did made no sense, given the reality of Final Fantasy 3 (either one).
Fuck this, I'm sure it - like the other 8 FF7 projects planned, are going to bastardize the game.
Where the hell is Kingdom Hearts 2? FFXII?

The English trailer is a new development. There have been subbed versions of this around for ages, but this is the launch of the official English website. Hence news.
