AMD planning new types of chips after buying ATI

The completion of the AMD acquisition of ATI has the potential of turning AMD into a larger and more potent force in the world of personal computing. The two companies' combined strengths could help create the key components for new computers that will run Microsoft Corp.'s forthcoming Windows Vista operating system, which will be available to consumers in late January.
