Guitar Hero Lawsuit Settled
1up is reporting that Red Octane and Ant Commandos have settled their lawsuits over 3rd party Guitar Hero controllers. From the article: "Fortunately both sides have now officially reached an agreement - though nobody really knows what form that agreement has taken. Details of the settlement remain private - but we DO know this much: The judge has officially dismissed the case. That's good news for people just wanting to rock the hell out over the holidays."

Does anyone know if Guitar Hero can be played on a PS3?
I assume a PS2 controller to USB adapter would allow the guitar to be plugged in, but has anyone actually got it to work?

I love the PS2 controller a hell of a lot more than the 360 controller, but I am unable to use my PS2 controller with the PS2->USB adaptor I use on my PC because of the lock-out chip. This is a "monopolistic" approach from Microsoft allowing them to decide who can and can't build accessories for the 360. Could I build my own controller? No. Would it be easy to design and produce one for sale? Design and build yes, work?.. No. If another rival system came out at the exact same time as the 360 (say the PS3)... and both were nearly identical in proformance.. I wonder how many more accessories would be availible for the non-360 unit if it wasn't locked down, compared to the locked down 360?

Slashdot blows, that's what's up. The code, the community and _ESPECIALLY_ the two-faced admins (looking at you, Malda). The only reason people even come here is because, as shitty as it is, the alternatives are even worse for the most part.
If you'd like Slashdot to improve, make an account on Digg and start posting there instead. The more people do it, the more the shitheads running this site will realize that veiled product advertisments and Roland Piquepaille aren't what the community is looking for. I love it how Malda came out and denied the whole idea that there was some sort of deal between he and Piquepaille for posting rights. Funny how he can take all that criticism, all that trolling without a word, then suddenly get up in arms over the suggestion that he's selling out. Must've wandered a little too close to the truth and hurt Malda's little feelings...
I really tried to like did, but the discussion blows worse than here, both people wise, and technically. While /. is the libertarian bastion of the internet (annoying, but makes for some good conversation), Digg is the ultra-left-wing Bush conspiracy bastion of the internet, meaning most forms of actual conversation are completely impossible. Also the discussion system just sucks, no real way to make replies, or get notified of them (threading is your friend, Digg), and the comment digg system is even worse than /.s mod system. It is complete group think where you canget down to -30 for just saying something that someone doesn't like. Its more like burying things that deviate from groupthink rather than highlight better comments (which /. does somewhat well).
Also since they opened it up to everyone and every topic the level of crap and scams has made it almost a waste of time. I think I tag things with "Okay this is lame" 10 times a day, and inaccurate the rest.
That said, it is a subjective choice. Not my cup of tea, though I do visit once a day or so, and do comment from time to time. Mostly it is a good link farm, no need to ever actually read the comments.

...is that Red Octane sent cease and desist letters to DDR:UK for providing Stepmania file downloads for ITG songs; when ITG only exists because of piracy of DDR songs and stepfiles.
Suing TAC for copying their controller is par for the course. I guess from Red Octane's point of view it's OK for them to copy other people's products, but it's not OK for people to copy theirs.
Roland Piquepaille's articles are interesting. That can't be said about you or any of the other Digg astroturfers.

I can make my own GH controller now? I was thinking about buying a GH controller and a cheap guitar (something with some actual weight to it) and making my own controller that way. Has anyone else tried this?
