Manhunt 2 Confirmed for Wii
Of all the licenses I expected to see on the Wii, the ultra-violent Manhunt title was not one of them. Coming to the 'next-gen alternative' trifecta of PSP, PS2, and Wii this summer is Manhunt 2 (not to be confused with the Sierra Manhunter adventure game series). The followup to the violent Rockstar title from 2003 will 'push game design and storytelling forward', sticking close to the original's dark suspense/stealth motifs.
The thumbnail I saw of a screenshot of it looked rather creepy.

So now I can brutally murder innocent civilians with seemingly innocuous objects in six degrees of freedom.
This is a good thing for the Wii, people will look upon it as being more mature now. This is really important (I mean look at the Gamecube 'nuff said) and great for popularity, but I don't care, I bought the Wii for Nintendo titles. I won't be buying this.
Finally, Manhunter 2 in the next-gen consoles!

How is your post not marked Troll, Flamebait, or Astroturf? It has no basis in reality.
I haven't seen any Wii's lasting on store shelves more then a couple of hours so far, though I am sure in some regions they have met demand.
I beat Zelda on our Wii 3 weeks ago, and still log several hours a week playing Wii sports and Wario Ware.
PS3 is the real bore right now games wise.
How many trade shows has there been since the Wii was released?

The Wii was released in Q4 which represents over half of all game sales, we are now in Q1 which is the slowest quarter in the year; the reason there are no Wii games being released is the same reason there are no PS2, Nintendo DS, PSP, XBox 360 and PS3 games being released.

When people say "more mature" in the context of video games, is that a code word for "more violent"?
I'm not criticizing, but "more mature" always seems like a double-speak phrase. Like, if someone describes me as "more mature", that's a way of saying I'm old.
The irony is, that most people using the word "mature" when describing video games are generally under 21.

Nintendo don't seem to have met demand in some European countries, where the only way to get a Wii or DS Lite is by putting your name on a waiting list. This is very unusual so soon after the XMas buying madness has passed, when most people are having panic attacks after their credit card bills arrive and tell them how much they really spent, and retailers are therefore accustomed to discounting excess items rather than being sold out of things that people are queuing up to buy at full retail price.

Imagine what you'll look like when you're stabbing air with your Wii wand or sneaking around your couch in an attempt to impale some grandma with a digital shard of pipe. One pro of this whole Wii revolution is that all you serial killers out there are going to be well practiced for your big day.
When Manhunt 3 comes out it will come with a sensor laden blow-up doll so you can actually beat the thing up... Wait a second, that's actually a great idea.

A month ago when I was playing Zelda and relatives were sitting around my Wii I would have modded you down :)
What is strange about the Wii hype is it just disappeared one day sometime in the middle of January for me. It was like someone snapping their fingers and I realized that I had absolutely no more desire to play my Wii after completing Zelda and there was nothing of any interest at all coming out for the system for months. Sitting around alone playing a Wii is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever done. Great for groups of people but sitting by yourself waggling the controller around is quite retarded.
Maybe when one of the big Wii titles finally does get released the old Wii hype will return for me but right now I feel like someone who get smashed and ended up with some skank and am now sobering up realizing what I've done.

Granted, I was one of the first persons to "sell" the Wii to my relatives and other friend who is also "non-gamer" (currently his PhD in Biology ) or my brother a musician (hardcore Sony PS? player). In "theory" Wii is very cool.
GameCube games that Nintendo sat on for the past year so they could tack on some Wiimote stuff and sell them as Wii games.
Half-assed third party crap dumped on the console.
I am sure you are referring to Legend of Zelda... I agree with you on that. I bought it but more because my girlfriend wanted it, I have played one or two times but I find it boring (maybe not my type of game).
A couple of third party games actually designed for the Wii where the controls are kinda interesting but actually pretty clunky in reality.
Some Nintendo first party stuff that might come out in late 2007 but more likely sometime in 2008.
As an example, lets put Red Steel, which was one of the most hyped games (just look at all the Wii trailers from the prelaunch at youtube). I bought it because it seemed to be cool. I found it OK, and it is what I have been playing so far...but from the reviews I have read, they all agree in that it is a POS (I give it a 6 of 10).
Like many other Wii owners, the Wii was a hit for a couple nights during the holidays when people were around the house. But now my Wii is sitting gathering dust these days. With nothing worth buying and who the hell knows when an actual Wii game is going to be released worth buying.
I cant agree more with this. The Wii was so fun on christmass eve, as my girlfriends relatives came to our flat to play. We had a lot of fun with Wii Sports (pretty much the only good game for non-gamers). After that, I have played and beaten the pro status (more than 1800 in fact) in tennis, golf and bowling (baseball is boring and boxing is not accurate).

This is one of the things that has pissed me off. The VC games are just *too expensive*. I am in the UK and the price of the Wii points is just outrageous. They expect me to pay more than £5 for a NES game? I *really* want to get Street Fighter 2, but I can have a better SF2 experience with any Kalliera enabled emulator.
I got very angry also when I read that one of the Worms games was going to be released for Xbox Live. My girlfriend and I LOVE that game, and is one of the few games I have made non-gamer play and have fun (the N64 version with 1964emu).

I bought Super MonkeyBall banana because all the games I had where boring me; the game is fine, but too short for one person. Again, only my girlfriend played with me but, because she sucked (dont tell her =oP) and you have to play *against* the other player, she got tired of losing. And my flatmate (the PhD Biol. student) did not like it (too difficult for him, non-gamer).
Now I am just waiting to see a game which *really* makes me want it. So far I have not seen any. I am pondering to buy one of the racing games, just because it is what is available (if you go to any game store here in UK youwill see the same 5 games for the Wii vs tons of games for other systems... that pisses me off) and just to see if I can get more from the Wii. I am just affraid to buy a game that is as X as the others I have. Oh, and WarioWare is out of my list... I played the GBA game and it was awful (of course this is just my POV).
I could of just waited a little while and saved 200 bucks and just bought Zelda for my old GameCube.
I could have waited too, but I am *really* looking forward to the Wii. I hope Nintendo just wakes up and give us some really *new* gameplay. For now, I am sick and tired of the "party games" and am looking for some good one player or two-player cooperative games.
Meanwhile, I'll continue playing my recently acquired Neverwinter Nights (first version, 100% legal £4.00) =o)

At least you didn't spend a lot of money on that skank, and she's still fun your when friends come over and have their way with her.
Nintendo has yet to release any Wii game that uses the network features. Look, the parent sounded like a shill to me too, but the God of War franchise is widely known for having amazing gameplay AND graphics.
Considering that GoW 2 is a PS2 title, I'm sure it won't outclass either of the systems (or at least the 360) in terms of graphics (although I'm sure if God of War is any indication it will push the PS2 to it's absolute limit), so that leaves gameplay.
i absolutely love manhunt. LOVE IT. just one more reason to get a wii! althought just where could the story go after the first manhunt? dude killed your whole family, and you killed dude. what's left? cash has no more arc left to him. maybe he just becomes a serial killer. now thats my kinda game.

The Wii is a big hit. The game market has broadened as people from the older generation become gamers. PS3s are sitting on shelves while the Wii is still being camped out for.

Meanwhile, most of my coworkers who never really talked about gaming much before are now frequently talking about their experiences with the Wii. (Interestingly enough, there wasn't one system that nearly everybody in the office had until the Wii came out.) Others are using it to work out. New game announcements are news around the office. Perhaps I'm simply amongst a small niche of people that just happen to work at the same place because of some weird quirk of time and space.

This is the only saving grace of your post. "I should have waited a ways after launch", I respect that. Game consoles don't immediately hit their stride out the gate. (PS2, anyone?) I do wonder if you're over-analying what you have or over-weighing what you don't have, but I suppose I'm not in a position to cast stones. I had similar complaints about the PS2 at launch and look where it ended up.

Only bias I can bring is I'm not a fan of "stealth" games. But once you get past the stealth and the combat - there's nothing THERE gamewise. I thought the Wii was supposed to be about the frigging game? GTA has been a solid license for Take 2 since aside from mayhem it actually has GAMEPLAY.
I took a 15 dollar loss, but Manhunt has to be on of the only titles I returned within a week of buying it for trade-in value for the PS2.
And one other thing - don't think I didn't notice that "Warriors" was the first real sequal to that pile of crap. Same lame game with new skins and a theme. Whoop-de-shit.
There's been fears expressed that like the GameCube, the Wii outside of Nintendo titles (which is why I got my Wii system - btw Youtube fullscreenmode is pretty compelling TV) might be another baston of "shovelware" - here's the first massive proof. Fellow Wii owners, get out your shovels, let the crapfest begin.

Some of the comments on here really have me wondering if Sony has hired some Cowards to write anti-Wii comment. There are no Wii on the shelf (unlike PS3 and obviously 360). In About 3 months the Wii has sold almost half as many as the 360 (4.5mil vs 10.5 mil) and is blowing the PS3 away which is sitting at about 2mil at best. This means that the Wii is becoming a more and more viable system for developers. Couple that with the low cost of creating games and I would say Wii games are probably already as cost effective as a 360 game and this is only going to get better as they start to get stocked in more quantity. The PS2 played virtually the entire back catalog of the PS1, had more than two dozen launch titles, most of them were third party, and most importantly it was also one of the cheapest DVD players on the market. It was a pretty spectacular launch in most every respect, even if its initial games looked barely any better than their PS1 equivalent (took forever to design for it no thanks to Sony's awful devkits).
I guess Sony figured everyone would go so gonzo for blu-ray that PS3's would fly off the shelves the same way. I guess they also discovered that regardless of inflation, most people have a pain point of about $400. I have a PS2, but I'm not getting any of the nextgen consoles until they have something I actually feel like playing (party games don't interest me). The 360 with titles like Viva Pinata and Dead Rising (I have eclectic tastes) is so far in the lead there.

I realize I wasn't all that clear originally, but I wasn't thinking of the entire launch, but rather the new big splendiferious games that make that console the one to own. The launch titles for the PS2 were far from exciting and left many people wondering why they spent so much money at launch. The PS2 was neat when it was launched, but I intended to be more specific than that.

Manhunt is fun, but I will forever push Rocket Jockey to you as the perfect example of a Wii game that must be made until the moment I hear that it will be published.
Yeah, Manhunt was a total waste. However if they were too busy making GTA4 for the PS360 then could the Wii get a better game from Rockstar? How about a port of Table Tennis? That would be a start. Personally though, I would pick (and pre-order) Max Payne 3... but Manhunt? Bah...
I think they are trying to put out a product to not sell then use that as justification to not develop for the platform.
Conspiracy theories aside - I hadn't thought of table-tennis since I never game it much though with conventional controllers. The game got high marks though and - you, me and anyone else not drooling into a bucket - would THINK would be a no-brainer to update and bring to the Wii.

Yes, Yes, and YES! Still one of my favorite games. Hard as hell, you get immense satisfaction when you beat anything. Also as craptastic as the Story is (in Story mode) those challenges are also white knuckle inducing. Pretty game in 480p Widescreen locked at 60 Frames per second. Love it Love it Love it.
