Man Fails High School Exams For 38th Straight Year

You can call Shiv Charan simple, foolish, or just plain stupid if you want. The one thing you can't call him is a quitter. Starting in 1969, Shiv has devoted his life to passing India's year 10 exam. Since then he has taken the test every year except two (to study, I guess), and has failed every time. He has vowed not to marry until he can pass the test and is still single, which is now his main motivation. "As long as I am alive I will go on giving examinations in order to get a wife. For me, success is not merely about clearing the examinations. It will also throw open the doors of marriage," he said. By now Shiv must have the most impressive collection of prom wear in all of Asia. It seems like he'd pass just so he wouldn't have to dance to Alphaville's Forever young again.

This clearly shows his abnormal state of mind. Even in a far away asian country, a GED doesn't have much to do with marriage. He seems to be a man with a low IQ and/or dislexia caught up in a Labido feedback loop. File this one under abnormal psych. The tests are not anywhere near the root of the problem.

Doesn't surprise me, some Indians are very determined, and by very determined I mean batshit nuts. Like that guy who rolled himself on the ground for 4,000 kilometers to honour a goddess, or that other guy who let his fingernails grow to reach about 6 feet, to the point it even made him deaf in one hear. That sort of stuff..

He says he keeps taking the test because he wants to pass it before he gets married. From what I hear some Indian parents will force their offspring into arranged marriages. Perhaps he's really failing the tests on purpose so he can avoid such a fate.
