In some workplaces in Japan, they have you spending so much time there, that it's more efficient for you to just spend your nights there than waste fuel and train space by commuting home just to hit the sack and return to work.
G4TV had a special once on the development environment for Gran Turismo IV in which the programmers were found sleeping under their desks just like this, except they had a curtain under there.
Don't they have a life?
