G.I. Joe Game On the Way

Electronic Arts has revealed that they are developing a G.I. Joe video game that will be launched alongside the G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra movie later this year. According to the announcement, the game "picks up where the live-action movie leaves off, allowing players to re-create and re-live the greatest moments from the film, cartoon series and action figure toy line." The game is planned for the PS2, PS3, PSP, mobile devices, Xbox 360, Wii, and DS. EA confirmed that there would be a co-op mode, but it's unknown whether there will be an online component.

True to the cartoon series, the game will equip players with M-16s that fire lasers color-coded by which side the player is fighting for. No more running around scrounging for ammo, as players will start with an infinite supply. EA and Hasbro have also co-developed a unique auto-aim function, which guarantees that you'll always miss human targets, and their new patented Insta-Bail System ensures crew survival during tank and air battles.

    Rated E for everyone!

The cartoon GI Joe is what is remembered by most people in the age bracket they are targetting. We grew up watching that cartoon. Plus, a movie and/or video game about the older GI Joe would just be "Generic War Movie". It might be good, but as far as I know, there's nothing that really makes it GI Joe since there were only a few characters and all pretty generic.

Because some other countries might take it the wrong way (for some unknown reason) if they started making the "enemies" Japanese or Vietnamese or Middle Eastern Insurgentese. It's much easier to just make an unidentifiable sinister force as the "enemy". (Could you really not figure this out on your own?)
