Google Latitude Helps Catch Robber

linuxwrangler writes "Janina Valiente was robbed by a purse snatcher while waiting for a bus in San Francisco. But she remembered that she had recently downloaded Google Latitude as a joke so she and her sisters could 'stalk each other.' Using a bystander's phone, she called her sister who told her the phone was at Fell and Ashbury which is exactly where police located and arrested the robber."

Ok, this is a nice one. Hey, she got her handbag back, with her cellphone, and wallet, etc. But she also brought up an important issue: People can use this to a) stalk people b) By companies, to know exactly where their employees are, to see if they are doing their jobs, etc. I'm sure many people can think of other good and bad things. In my view, the good and bad balance each other, and so I personally wouldn't download this. Would you?

only if you install it on your phone.

or if you work for someone who requires you to have it installed on your company phone.

which isn't really something they can hide, at this point in time.

so if you do work for such a person... well, that's your choice.
