Bar Wants You To Insult Employees

Walking into the Casa Pocho bar in Cullera, Spain, and saying, "You know what I like best about this place? Not a f@#king thing!" might just get you a free drink. The bar is encouraging patrons to insult and swear at its staff, and offering free drinks for funny or original verbal abuse. "When you come in after work, you can say swear at them and call them bastard or imbecile," said client Antonio Ossa. Owner Bernard Mariusz said he thought people needed somewhere to let off some steam in these troubling times.

Sounds like a real fun place to work. It may not be pitched at insulting the employees, but it'll end up doing that very thing without a doubt, and I'm sure they'll get tired of it after a while.

I odn't know, if I knew that all the people bitching were told they could, it would make it far less painful because I would have a far easier time ignoring them.

Maybe he got the idea from retail and restaurants in the US, where it's customary for assholes to berate the employees for no reason at all.

I'm polite, courteous, and business-like. And I just pay what I owe and a small tip. Yet I get great service, smiles, and sometimes even free things (and no, I'm neither hot nor female).

In fact I get great service in general. Because I treat my fellow humans as such.

There was (I say "was" even though it's still there in name, it is dead to me since the management changed) a place called "Greasey Joe's" in St. Kilda, Victoria, Australia.

Back in the day, You would cop a load of the most intelligent, witty and delightfully offensive abuse when ordering a pint of Coopers Sparkling Ale and a Double Bypass Burger with wedges.

The names they gave the food where all funny and accentuated the greasey nature of the place. The surly service was brilliantly executed and the abuse was often brilliant in its offensivenes without the need for foul language. Trying to give as good as you got was difficult because they employed true masters, although keeping up for more than 15 seconds generally earned a kind of begrudging respect which was sometimes shown by a scowl and a "what do you want?"

Then they changed hands, I went back twice and on both occasions they were polite and the entire menu had tasteful names. I haven't been back for about six or seven years. It's ruined.
