EU Asks Horse Owners To Pledge Not To Eat Their Pets

Continental Europeans are eating so many horses that EU officials are worried that vet drugs will start to enter people's diets. Their solution is to have all horse owners sign a pledge not to eat their animals. Anyone who just can't bear the idea of not eating a delicious horse barbecue faces prison time and an unlimited fine. Nigel Farage, leader of UKIP, said, "I'd like to be a fly on the wall when the Queen and Princess Anne are asked to sign a form saying they're not going to eat their horses. Measures to stop the trade in horse flesh may be a good thing. But any common sense in Brussels is drowned by the sheer weight of ludicrous suggestions."

We're a funny lot in the UK. The English are particularly strange. I should point out that I was born in the fine county of Essex, England. We don't eat horses. We don't eat dogs. We don't (on the whole) eat veal. And we definately don't eat Blue Fin tuna. However, we do produce veal.... we just ship it to Europe. What we don't eat gets turned into dog food. Similarly, we have alot of dear (venison), but instead of eating it ourselves, we (again) feed it to cats and dogs. I don't know if we export horse meat, but I'd wager that we do..... we just won't eat it ourselves. Me? Well I'm English.

Don't see anything wrong with eaten horse-flesh, though I personally dislike the taste.
But eating horses that weren't bred to be eaten seems quite dumb, and if the food regulations in the rest of Europe are anything like those in Belgium, it will be impossible to do anyway, at least the commercial selling of pet-horse meat.

The outrage with the fact that people eat horse-meat (or veal) is quite funny though, animals are animals, and you can pretty much eat every one of them. Nobody's going to force you to eat it though.

Or, perhaps, old people. They aren't working, are going to die anyway, why not eat them?
The outrage with cannibalism is quite funny though. Nobody forces you to eat your grandma - somebody else can.

Kinda like rabbit - or so I hear.
Only problem is if you are eating a domestic cat that might have been feeding on mice and/or birds - and you just don't know where those have been.

    Same thing with the elderly.
They were most likely very ill and overmedicated at the time of death.
Plus, you wouldn't eat a cow that died of old age, now would you?

Humans are to be eaten young - before they pollute their meat with additives and artificial coloring and other toxic waste.

I believe Mr. Swift was on to something when he recommended the consumption of Irish babies that had not yet begun to walk. They are supposed to be quite succulent.

In all seriousness though, is mad cow disease still that much of a rampant issue in Europe that you are having to resort to eating horses, or is this some strange new fad of yours?
