Minnesota Supreme Court Rules Bong Water Is a Drug

The Minnesota Supreme Court has ruled that bong water is a drug saying it is, "a preparation, compound, mixture, or substance containing a controlled substance, regardless of purity." The 4-3 decision means that possession of 25 or more grams of bong water can lead to first-degree drug charges instead of a fine of no more than $300 for paraphernalia. At least someone is trying to stop the epidemic of glassy eyed children selling little thermoses filled with smelly water at school.

    Based on the fact that any random bills in their wallets are likely to test positive for cocaine?

    Not to mention that their brain and muscle tissues will contain measurable amounts of DMT and GHB?

      It also means any funeral home that holds services for a deceased stoner is also in possession of a controlled substance, since THC collects in the fatty tissues. The law should focus on the amount of controlled substance (THC) present, not the weight of the solution in which the controlled substance is dissolved, which is irrelevant. Also, shouldn't the court need to prove there was actually some intention to drink the bong water in order to become intoxicated? If you are drinking bong water to get high (eww!), it is no different from smoking it.

    Let's not waste perfectly good beer and random pills! Possession of foamy beer barf is a drug no matter how many chunks of pizza topping are in it. Also, we can't overlook phlegm. A good lugie from a stoner can have lots of special flavor crystals. Yummy. Munchies and puke and phlegm: three strike law.
