Pilot Fixes Plane With Duct Tape After Grizzly Attack

IamAHack writes "I heard this story this morning on public radio's 'Marketplace Morning Report' about an Alaskan bush pilot whose plane was mauled by a grizzly bear. A judicious application of duct tape was all that was needed to make the plane airworthy again. Another life changed forever by duct tape."

    Not the same tape but the concept is pretty the same. If an airliner could be repaired with tape, why couldn't a light aircraft?

    People have been repairing dents and tears in aircraft with duct tape for as long as the stuff has been around. The good stuff is also known as "200 mile per hour tape", it will stand up to an airspeed that fast.

    The plane above is probably fine with 100 mph tape.

      Reminds me of a trip I once took on an AirTran plane. As I sat in the terminal awaiting boarding, I had the privilege of watching frustrated mechanics tinker with the nose of the plane and then simply patch the whole thing over with several rolls of duct tape. And then I boarded the plane and flew 500 miles to Minnesota.
