13-Year-Old Radio Pirate Defies Canadian Authorities
Freshly Exhumed writes "Broadcasting illegally on the FM Radio band from atop his father's strip club in Canada's capital city of Ottawa, young Jayhaed Saadé was handed a cease-and-desist order by Industry Canada inspectors on December 2 to shut down his MIX FM operation, then simply waited a few hours, pumped up the volume once again the next afternoon, and still remains defiantly on the air. His choice of programming has been described as a blatant rip-off of Lebanon's popular MIX FM music station. The story gets weirder as it seems Saadé's father is a former Ottawa mayoralty candidate, and apparently sees no harm in his son's illegal activities despite looming $20,000-per-day fines that Industry Canada may impose under Canada's Broadcasting Act, let alone the shark feeding frenzy that is sure to occur when the Mounties, the taxman, music industry copyright/plagiarism watchdogs, and other aggrieved parties descend on his second floor playhouse."
Free Talk Live had a radio interview with the station operator a few days ago. He's running a real (2300W) station with money left to him from a deceased grandfather and doesn't plan to pay the fines (though he thinks they are hundreds per day). He's filing the paperwork to get the government off his back.
My God, it's Full of Source!

He's a taxman.
What is this "FM" people are talking about?
If I had time and money to waste as well as an apartment above my dad's strip club, I'd spend more time downstairs.
I've abandoned my search for truth; now I'm just looking for some useful delusions.
Nothing says "FATHER OF THE YEAR" like letting your teenaged son run a pirate radio station on top of a strip club. WIN
Maybe the kid is really just pushing his dad to let him spend his days in the strip club but the dad would rather pay the 20k fines than get his boobie shop closed for underage customers
We all know radio.... they talk for a few moments, then play some jams.... many jockeys chit chat or check email and such during the songs. Since this kid lives above a strip club, he's probably playing mix fm for them to dance to while he's jockeying. I would have those chicks from the strip club come up and do a "private" dance for me during tracks.
