British Man Becomes the First To Swim Under Mt. Everest

Many people try to climb up Mt. Everest, but Lewis Gordon Pugh saw a niche in the market and has become the first to swim under it. The endurance swimmer is the only person to successfully swim across the 1km glacial lake next to the Khumbu Glacier. From the article: "He came close to drowning during test swims for the event amid bouts of altitude sickness on the Pumori Lake, which sits 17,000 feet above sea level. But an adapted approach saw him through to complete the swim in a time of 22 minutes and 51 seconds."

    In Universal terms, an ant with a brief moment of consciousness has climbed the top of an ant hill. And he feels proud while a few ants gather round and clap. Then they all die and the Universe carries on, not caring.

      Actually, in Universe terms, the least accomplishment of any man is greater than the whole of the rest of creation. Intelligence is the pinnacle of what happens in the universe.

      Well you know, just because you were born a worthless human being with no value doesn't mean that it applies to the rest of us. That's just an assumption, it's you saying "he's making fun of me because deep down he knows that his life sucks too," and that's really quite pathetic. Judging by your babbling I'd say that you're 100 percent correct, _your_ existence is futile. Doesn't mean mine is, or anyone else's. Just yours.       Mmmh, maybe you are also religious in your nihilism ?
      In universe terms it's pointless, if someone is right or wrong, what he thinks and how they see the world, themselves and what they believe. The universe doesn't care, it all only gets a meaning in the mind of some conscious being.
      This means that I'm allowed to deliberately believe in whatever I like and what works best for me, also that my life has a meaning and in certain values and I just do that. If this seems to be inconsistent, I don't care, the universe doesn't care, it works for me, so it's fine and I don't need to care, what others think about it.

      As you can see, I've gone through these nihilistic thoughts, too. Btw. imho you can't even prove that there exists more than your current thought. You can't prove that the things that you see, exists somewhere, except in your thoughts. You can't prove that what you believe happened a minute ago, really happened. Think about it. The past that seems consistent to you at any moment, can just be an illusion like everything around you. Dillusioning, isn't it ?

      Consciousness is quite fascinating, it has a lot to do with interpreting things and giving things meaning. Without consciousness there would be no things, just maybe be an undefined something. Without consciousness there would be no you, no me, no atoms, no seperated entities at all, no science, no rules, nothing, it all requires that a part of the system gets conscious of itself and plays observer of the rest. But this separation is only visible in the eyes of some conscious being, who thinks in those terms and says: 'That thing is a seperate entity that is conscious.' Maybe there is also consciousness on other levels that we are unable to realize ...

      As you see, I've gone through nihilistic thoughts, too and I've realizied that science fails to explain certain things. You can also say the universe doesn't care, if you believe in free will or not. But I think it's in my interest to believe in free will, so I just do it. And if free will doesn't exist, then it's not my fault to believe in free will anyway, since I had no choice. So nothing to worry about. Isn't it beautiful ? lol

      Guess I'm bored. lol

      You seem to be under the mistaken delusion, that that “pinnacle of reality” is anything other than extremely egocentric pure mental masturbation.
      There is no such thing as “THE pinnacle”. I think when all the matter and energy in the universe gets an equal vote about what is considered a pinnacle, in whatever they want to measure here (as you did not specify “the pinnacle in WHAT?”, our views will be a two-bit value in a 256 bit field. ^^
