Anti-Bieber Software Maker Gets Death Threats

baronvoncarson writes "A software creator has been sent death threats over his anti-Bieber add-on for Firefox. One crazed fan has likened his creation to Nazi Germany, writing, 'I realize that you're just stating an opinion, but what you're doing is going back to World War II all over again. Hitler wanting to erase Jews from society — you want to erase Justin Bieber.'"

      I've heard the name in passing (and the hatred for him), but I know so little about Bieber, that I can't imagine how people are getting enough exposure to him to generate this kind of hate. Don't go looking for him, and you won't have to deal with him.

    Comparing this wonderful piece of code, to Nazi Germany?!? To a madman and movement that caused the deaths of tens of millions of people?!? I warms the heart to know that teenagers today have even less sense of proportion, or knowledge of history than they did when I was young, That takes work, dedication!
    Personally, I think that one should not be allowed to be a pop star until one is at least old enough to have ones testicles drop.

    It's interesting to see how the fans complain about the "censorship" against their idol and say the author can't distribute his work, but they aren't forced to install it. Who is censoring who here?

    It must have been around for years - perhaps hidden in the FireFox source code using a Richie-login-like backdoor - because in all the years that I've been using FireFox on various platforms, I've never heard of this "Justin Bieber"

    Kudos to the writer for hiding the code so well.

    I suppose that I'll have to find out who Justin Bieber is now ... ah, as I suspected, some useless musical non-entity. Well, that was a waste of electrons, wasn't it?

    One life affected 6 million, this is one life annoying 6 billion!

    Everyone harps on about going back in time and erasing Hitler, but if you had the opportunity, wouldnt you take it to erase Justin Bieber for the good of the planet?
