Panda Dung Statue Sold for $45,000

After being on display in a museum in China, the world's crappiest statue has been sold for $45,000. A former Swiss ambassador bought the panda dung replica of the Venus de Milo for his art collection. From the article: "Children from the southwestern province of Sichuan, the home of China's beloved giant panda, made the unusual statue with the help of famous sculptor Zhu Cheng, popular web portal sina.com reported."

What I find more confusing is the sentence "Panda dung statue sells for..." so what is it? Is it a statue of panda dung? A statue of a panda made of some kind of dung? A statue of a panda made of panda dung? A statue of something made of panda dung? The price is easily explainable, it was likely sold at a charity auction for pandas, it is now something that this person can remind people he paid $45,000 to a charity to save pandas.

I had a vision of a panda dung statue (a statue of a panda, made out of panda dung) setting up a stall to sell those little potted bamboo plants.
