Japanese Airline to Offer Draft Beer

While some airlines are charging you for carry-on bags and others are reducing beverage service, ANA would like to offer a cold draft beer. Starting July 20, passengers on All Nippon Airway will be able to purchase a tall cold one for $11.30. Until now draft beer and fluctuating cabin pressure would result in a foamy mess, but new keg technology has solved the problem.

I thought the $8-$9 they charged for beer at basketball games was outrageous... for $11.30, I think I could carry a six-pack in my carry-on.

Pretty sure the TSA guys would be enjoying that beer with their next pat-down session rather than you actually getting it on the plane.

Beer cans do NOT explode on flights. In fact I've been served beer from cans on many flights, and before the current restrictions, often carried 4 or 6 beers in my carry-on luggage.

The pat-downs aren't really that invasive. My girlfriend was selected for one this holiday season and it was conducted in the open right at the security checkpoint, by a female officer wearing plastic gloves, with no removal of clothing or groping under clothing. I was kind of irked when she was selected at first but the whole thing was over in less than 5 minutes and it really wasn't a big issue at all.

I read about the pat-downs a little bit before flying and it is TSA regulation that the pat-downs be conducted by same-sex officers. So I don't think that most of the TSA guys will be having a lot of "unwarranted fun" with their "pat-down sessions."

Leaving Viet Nam one time (I was there seeing my wife's family), they selected my flight for pat-downs. They had a guy to pat down guys and a woman to pat down women. But when I got to the front of the queue, the woman gestured to me. I looked at her like "WTF?" but she kept gesturing. I wasn't going to argue, because she had a gun and I didn't, so I went over. I swear that cougar copped a good feel! She didn't pat me down - she groped me all over! Damn corrupt government employees! (I don't think I've been mentally damaged by the experience. I'm not scared of airports or flying. But it was disconcerting at the time, and funny to think about later.)
