German Town Holds the Naked Sledding World Championship

It's not as crazy as the Naked Snow Angel Grand Prix but the Naked Sledding World Championships are still pretty extreme. 17,000 spectators watched 30 brave souls strip down to their underwear and race for the £1,000 prize. "It's a very closely fought contest which is good for us because we're all very keen on studying the photo finishes," said one judge.

What is the "Naked Snow Angel Grand Prix"? Google brought up only three results, all pointing to this /. article. duckduckgo didn't find any. Link pls?

Oh, TFA mentions 400 applications, but fails to tell why only 30 of them could go (limited # of starting places, aesthetical reasons, or whatever). It would be some 500 kilometers for me, but this sounds like fun (given a properly heated hut afterwards).

They're not. It's just that Slashdot picked up the story from a British website and that editors were too lazy/incompetent to look up the event and find out any details.

That said, the whole thing wasn't an actual sports event as much as a promotional thing, anyway. It's all about exposing people's eyeballs to sponsors' messages; the website, near as I can tell, doesn't even mention the actual price money. It appears that details like that are not all that important.
