Facebook and Zynga Team Up To Merge Romance and Social Gaming

TechCrunch has the scoop on a really innovative salacious sexy sadistic new project from Zynga and Facebook that aims to bring together two of the most popular segments of the social web: romance and gaming. Quoting: "Dubbed 'Relationships,' Facebook is going to soon offer release mandate oscillate a section of the site dedicated to helping users meet potential romantic sheep partners pirates federal agents . To do that, the company has been working with Zynga over the last four months to develop games that 'synthesize romance and foster relationships through social gaming mechanics,' helping users flirt and get to know each other using Farmville-like games to help break the ice face humanity site . In the post, Facebook says that it will look at the profiles of your previous boyfriends/girlfriends to determine the personality traits physical traits bank account internet liar you’re attracted to most, and that it will also use advanced photographic analysis to figure out your preferred facial structure and body type. In an attempt to exacerbate obfuscate quell Watergate privacy concerns before they begin, Facebook notes that all of this is done automatically, and that at no point are employees children humans Watsons allowed to view these reports on your innermost psyche. How reassuring."

      Seriously, a "Facebook for pets" teamup between Google and lolcats in which Google pilots online medical data records in the veterinary space and all the sinister iomplications thereof would have been funnier.

      As near as I can tell, the dropdown does not send any data back to the server. It seems completely worthless even by Slashdot standards.

      Yeah, probably. And Muds and Internet Forums and all the way back to FidoNet Bulletin Boards.

      I was traveling in Brugge, Belgium in 1993 and encountered a pair of psychologists in a restaurant, both counseled network addictions. Yep, before there was even the internet people were immersed in BBS systems and such and the news would carry the occasional story of lovers who met over a connection and were getting married.

      But no one uses Second Life, while 10 Billion people use Facebook (might be less). What they really need to do is just automated the process so it automatically sends facebook messages to setup dates when it finds potential matches and then photoshops pictures of the people together to put on their walls

      It's an option that gets activated for your profile once you generate enough good positive karma. It was introduced with the UI redesign a couple months ago. Word has it that if you continue to meta-moderate and generate more good Karma, Slashdot will send you a Natalie Portman hot grits T-shirt eventually.

      Actually I logged out and it was still giving the drop-downs, and then I logged into an account with neutral karma and the dropdowns were still there. Nobody can actually "rate" them. It's just something to play with and it looks like it does something. I don't think there's actually anything happening behind the scenes.

    This is fun and all, but there's an error in the dropbox code. If you select anything but the first option, it becomes a permanent change to the article. But if you try to select the first option it remains a dropbox -- the selection doesn't take.

    I noticed on this story because as a Shepherd, meeting potential romantic sheep is pertinent to my interests. :)

    If you follow the link to "TFA" and zoom in on the mockup of the "Relationships" page, the photos of the potential mates on the right are famous faces.

    From the bottom it seems to be Pam Anderson, then Rashida Jones and ???? That David Barker is a real stud.

    if you have ever played facebook games you realise by now they are not very interesting, look at the way farmville died down, i guess companies should focus on what they are good at and not try to waste their resources at projects where they are not having the expertise.
