A Conversation with Rob Malda - Part Two of Three (Video)
Yesterday we mentioned that Slashdot's 15th Anniversary is coming up in October. (Link to the cheezy song, I Read It On Slashdot.) Also, yesterday we ran Part One of a discussion with Rob Malda conducted by Jeff 'Soulskill' Boehm and Rob 'samzenpus' Rozeboom. Like Part One, Part Two is an audio interview with some photos laid over it, so you might want to listen rather than watch. And if this doesn't satisfy your, "What's Rob Malda up to?" curiosity, Part Three will be here Monday.
... and why should I care what he says?
I would have to expect that the failure machine known as samzenpus would start by asking Malda if he is satisfied with the job he has done of further degrading this once-relevant technology site into a congregating place for conservative groupthink. The editorial reputation was pretty bad when Taco was here, now that samzenpus has more control it's become even worse.
Damn_registrars has no butt-hole. Damn_registrars has no use for a butt-hole.
Seriously. Who gives a shit?
That was actually a fairly interesting interview. I wouldn't have guessed Rob would be into frictionless sharing (albeit opt-in). "You post to Slashdot but you would never Tweet".
Although I wonder why "Slashdot TV" didn't videotape the interview? It's more like a radio interview with a gratuitous slideshow on it.

I'm tired of asking for video transcripts on Slashdot. GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS.
At the risk of being flamed into oblivion, I'll say it anyway:
1. Apparently no one cares about Rob anymore; no one is irreplaceable. So what's the point of these interviews again?
2. If a former employer decided to interview me just for kicks, I'd tell them to fuck off. I left the company for a reason. If I wanted to stay in touch, I wouldn't have left in the first place.
Don't waste your time. This is like watching the Cardassians bicker among each other...sorry, Kardashians.
The only good thing about this entire thread is the captcha I just got: erected.
Post a transcript if you're going to post a video. This isn't reddit (yet). Much faster to read than it is to sit and watch something.
Don't call it a video . . . . please.
No link to the original ogg/webm? Lame.
Sad to see /. perpetuate one of the most horrible pieces of proprietary crapware on the web. Next time, try HTML5.
Why is this old Weird Al Yankovic video on my Slashdot?
You are welcome on my lawn.
Since it mentions we may want to listen instead of watch, how about making these available as an audio podcast? (so I can listen on the go at 2x)
So now /. is resorting to interviewing past editors? When is the multi-part story on Jon Katz coming out??
I have to return some videotapes...
One of the worst features of facebook (besides the privacy stealing facebook itself) is viewing and sharing links and articles that is done using apps. ;-)
It works like this:
1. Someone sees that one of their friends viewed an article/web site/link etc...
2. They click on it so that they can also view it.
3. They are prompted with a box saying "please install application x to view this"
4. Non-IT savvy people click and install the app. Slashdot users avoid it
5. Non-IT savvy people read the article
6. The app then posts on their wall that they viewed the article and so the malware/app continues.
