Shamoon Malware Linked To Saudi Aramco Attack
angry tapir writes "A timer found in the Shamoon cyber-sabotage malware discovered last week matches the exact time and date when a hacktivist group claims to have disabled thousands of computers from the network of Saudi Aramco, the national oil company of Saudi Arabia. 'We penetrated a system of Aramco company by using the hacked systems in several countries and then sent a malicious virus to destroy thirty thousand computers networked in this company,' a group called the 'Cutting Sword of Justice' said in a Pastebin post on Aug. 15. 'The destruction operations began on Wednesday, Aug 15, 2012 at 11:08 AM (Local time in Saudi Arabia) and will be completed within a few hours.' That same day, Saudi Aramco confirmed that some sectors of its computer network were affected by a computer virus that infected workstations used by its employees."
...or Aramco's *windows* computer network?
'We penetrated a system of Aramco company by using the hacked systems in several countries and then sent a malicious virus to destroy thirty thousand computers networked in this company,'
As opposed to all the benevolent viruses meant to create computers?
No, wait. Moronic. From what I know of my time spent in Riyadh at old Bendix, they cut off your head if you commit any crime using your wits, hands if petty theft, and dodger if sodomy (man on man rape; okay to rape women there don't you know). Women only get stoned (to death). If only these arab antics were shown on CNN.
> some sectors of its computer network were affected by a computer virus that infected workstations used by its employees
bootsectors, I presume?
the saudi wahabi lunatics donate money, books, etc to convert the west to uber sunni islam. remove their funding by all means necessary. kids are ill equipped to critically examine the well funded ideas tossed at them. I am all for free speech, the problem is super subsidized speech now has gone unchecked for ages. now a nerd with a pentium can express his speech with a few kilobytes of code and remove the funding source. grats
Is this terrorism or counter-terrorism? So difficult to tell these days when both sides act the same.

At least one thing we're number one in: Terrorism
Of random countries who don't obey in giving us all their resources for the price we tell them (zero).
Your country's next.
A virus that destroys centrifuges, OK. Now, a virus that destroys computers? There are certainly ways to do physical harm to an infected computer, but do these apply here?
There was a huge oil refinery explosion in Venezuela yesterday, at least 28 people died there, including civilians and kids. May be the CIA/NSA + .il did that, as the Axis of New York - Tel Aviv does not like Chavez, just like they do not like the ayatollahs of Iran. In the spring of 2012 there was a big fire and explosion on the largest iranian oil tanker filling sea terminal platform, which was caused by a SCADA wrecking computer malware that descended from the tilded Stuxnet-Duqu platform. Wired Mag says Iran has asked the UN ITU to investigate, which ITU does, because its heads are ex-USSR educated african tech guys, who strongly dislike the USA.
Never forget: where 15 of the 19 "9-1-1" terrorists were from: Saudi Arabia.
