Nanotube Film Could Replace Defective Retinas
Zothecula writes: A promising new study (abstract) suggests that a wireless, light-sensitive, and flexible film could potentially form part of a prosthetic device to replace damaged or defective retinas. The film both absorbs light and stimulates neurons without being connected to any wires or external power sources, setting it apart from silicon-based devices used for the same purpose. It has so far been tested only on light-insensitive retinas from embryonic chicks, but the researchers hope to see the pioneering work soon reach real-world human application.

They keep minusmodding it, rejecting it from submissions also http://www.theregister.co.uk/2...
Will it replace defective-by-design "retina" iDevices?
LOLZZZ!!!!!
They minusmodded it rejecting it from submissions too http://www.theregister.co.uk/2... and the minusmods to try hide it are http://science.slashdot.org/co... and here http://science.slashdot.org/co... in this article alone. There's others in other articles today where I pointed this out. Talk about petty. Slashdot, you fucked up big and you can't keep trying to hide it forever.

granted, second sight's implant does require wires. great to see competition in this field tho.
Down mod this all day like you have boys: Ain't goin' away http://www.theregister.co.uk/2...
You might want to read this and this before you mod down.
Truth too much for ya? Your foaming at the mouth shows that much on http://www.theregister.co.uk/2... just to watch you have a fit again (it's hilarious).
Had it, before it was cool.
"Dad, are you nanotubes?"
"Yes, son. Now we can be a family again."
"It has so far been tested only on light-insensitive retinas from embryonic chicks, "
OMG!! They are called ladies, not "chicks".
Will this work on old people with holes in their retinas?

Every time I hear about graphite, graphene, bucky balls, nanotubes, and all these other carbon buzzwords, they keep saying "soon soon soon"... Well, what I want to know is when this stuff will leave the research labs and be of any practical use to anyone. Either shit or get off the pot already.
Buck Feta. You know what to do.
What's it like getting your ass kicked by apk + downmodding to hide it 20x http://tech.slashdot.org/comme... ?
