What have been some of Brady Forrest's successes? Why is he 'selling books' if he is successful at startups? Why isn't he a billionaire running a company?

From what I can find he has been successful at building hipster cred (Burning Man, robot building, writing, etc)

I can't speak about Brady, but there are lots books out there written by successful millionaire/billionaire business people. Warren Buffett has some titles out under his own name, notably "The Oracle Speaks," and he is without question "a billionaire running a company?"

Books are often more about ego or self-promotion than about royalties. And if you listen to mega-successful IT startup/IPO people, right after they get rich, many of them say the next they're going to do is write a book.

Of course, writing a book is hard, so few of them actually do it without a coauthor.

Thinking of which... I'm sort of available. I've written three books under my own name and two as a quiet ghost. No reason I couldn't take on another one. Anyone out there want to talk? (I'm at least 1/2 serious here.)

I strongly suggest watching Vincent Sanders and Daniel Silverstone at their 2007 DebConf talk, From concept to concrete. It's far from my work line, but I clearly remember it as informative and fun — eight years later!

I though I would do a google search to find out what hardware products Brady Forrest has been involved with, but it turns out I could have just saved my time and gone straight to posting here "Who the fuck is Brady Forrest?"

I found a bunch of stuff about running some incubator and starting a series of talks. Nothing about making anything.
