One method is to not allow any unrecognized person into an area unescorted. In a large organization, that means that exiting employment employees mini biography and photo are emailed to all. That is to avoid leaving a position on the 20th floor and re-entering the corp using one of the tricks shown in the brief youtube display.
I think that social engineering is an inappropriate title. "Wanting to provide universal healthcare" to Americans is social engineering. .

If that person was a "social engineer", then housebreaking would make you an Architect! 8-)
