Apple To Launch Startup Accelerator, Three Apple Stores In India, Says Report (factordaily.com)

Apple plans to set up three of its own retail stores -- the iconic Apple Store -- in India, reports FactorDaily. The stores will be setup in Delhi, Bangalore, and Mumbai in the next 18 months. The report adds that Apple also plans to unveil a startup accelerator in the country which would incubate ideas largely around apps built for iOS. The publication claims that these announcements will be made public later this week when Apple CEO Tim Cook visits India. With the growth of iPhone sales starting to decline, and India being one of the handful places to show an increasingly growing interest in its phone, Apple has shifted its focus in the recent months to actively target Indian market.

It is actually not just illegal but unconsitutional. http://www.slate.com/blogs/out...

But don't let that sway your talking points.

Apple refuses to go to NC because a) they can b) it's illegal
I'm sure the next step once Apple sets up shop in India is that they'll push to make things more progressive.

Being LGBT in India is not illegal - it's still being judged link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

Homosexuality is mostly a taboo subject in Indian civil society and for the government. Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code makes sex with persons of the same gender punishable by law. On 2 July 2009, in Naz Foundation v. Govt. of NCT of Delhi, the Delhi High Court held that provision to be unconstitutional with respect to sex between consenting adults, but the Supreme Court of India overturned that ruling on 11 December 2013, stating that the court was instead deferring to Indian legislators to provide the sought-after clarity.[1] On 2 February 2016, however, the Supreme Court agreed to reconsider its judgment, stating it would refer petitions to abolish Section 377 to a five-member constitutional bench, which would conduct a comprehensive hearing of the issue.[2]

In the US, there are plenty of apps that people use, many of which are iOS only. So in the US, getting an iPhone makes sense. Also, since a huge percentage of Americans have this phone, FaceTime is a good reason to get it - chances are that the people you know have one as well, enabling you to FaceTime them if you live in different cities.

That situation is completely different in India. For one, Indians ain't anywhere near as into apps as Americans are. For instance, the banking apps don't support scanning a check for deposits. Also, there are almost no apps exclusive to iOS, and most of the popular apps that are advertised on TV, such as Cleartrip, MakeMyTrip, FreeCharge, Oxigen Wallet, Olacabs, Quikr, Snapdeal, et al are not only available on Android, but also available on Windows 10 Mobile. I have an iPhone and a MotoX that I use in the US, but when I'm in India, I use a Lumia 550
