Apple To Launch Startup Accelerator, Three Apple Stores In India, Says Report (factordaily.com)
Apple plans to set up three of its own retail stores -- the iconic Apple Store -- in India, reports FactorDaily. The stores will be setup in Delhi, Bangalore, and Mumbai in the next 18 months. The report adds that Apple also plans to unveil a startup accelerator in the country which would incubate ideas largely around apps built for iOS. The publication claims that these announcements will be made public later this week when Apple CEO Tim Cook visits India. With the growth of iPhone sales starting to decline, and India being one of the handful places to show an increasingly growing interest in its phone, Apple has shifted its focus in the recent months to actively target Indian market.
If all you have is a hammer...
>> incubate ideas largely around apps built for iOS.
Here's three crowdsourced ideas to start:
- Bovine HotrNot: rate and find the best looking cows on the street
- Roof-n-Go: last-minute booking of busses with available hang-onto-the-side and roof seating
- MyNameIsTed: while you are at your call-center job, this reminds you which Western name you were assigned and which company you are currently taking calls for so you can answer the phone correctly
We get %30 of profit + %30 of app sales stacked.
Didnt apple make a big fuss over North carolina for HB2 (for those not paying attention its the law that says if you have a penis use the mens room, a vagina the womans room) claiming that it was discriminatory???
so why would they open shop in a place that is openly hostile to the homosexual community?
double standards????
have you seen my sig? there are many others like it but none that are the same
Startup accelerator? Will this make my Mac boot even faster? Or will they replace the opening chimes with the Rolling Stones classic, "Start me up"?
You're joking, right?
I'm sure the owners of the Imagine stores in the UB City and Garuda malls in Bangalore are quaking in their boots. To say nothing of the other stores selling Apple products.
OTOH a genuine Apple Store will fit in nicely between the Lamborghini, Audi, and Mercedes dealerships in downtown Bangalore. In between shopping for an Aventador, R8, or AMG GT S you can pick up some nice Apple bling.
Oh, you thought there were only poor people in India or something?
>Startup Accelerator
>India
I guess, the first startup to graduate will be called H1Bify
Sure glad they didn't succeed in trademarking the term "Startup" !
It was a sneaky attempt which abused trade pacts ( but minor compared to what the Tobacco companies pull... say no to the TPP )!
Have they tried again recently?

There has gotta be a lot more. Here in Calcutta, there are at least 2, and 1 service center. The 2 are in Quest Mall and City Center 2, and the service center somewhere near the US consulate
There are two http://factordaily.com/apple-s... links in the post, manishs! :(
Ant(Dude) @ Quality Foraged Links (AQFL.net) & The Ant Farm (antfarm.ma.cx / antfarm.home.dhs.org).
....are overpriced overkill.
In the US, there are plenty of apps that people use, many of which are iOS only. So in the US, getting an iPhone makes sense. Also, since a huge percentage of Americans have this phone, FaceTime is a good reason to get it - chances are that the people you know have one as well, enabling you to FaceTime them if you live in different cities.
That situation is completely different in India. For one, Indians ain't anywhere near as into apps as Americans are. For instance, the banking apps don't support scanning a check for deposits. Also, there are almost no apps exclusive to iOS, and most of the popular apps that are advertised on TV, such as Cleartrip, MakeMyTrip, FreeCharge, Oxigen Wallet, Olacabs, Quikr, Snapdeal, et al are not only available on Android, but also available on Windows 10 Mobile. I have an iPhone and a MotoX that I use in the US, but when I'm in India, I use a Lumia 550
