A 'Turkish Hacker' Is Giving Out Prizes For DDoS Attacks (csoonline.com)

Security firm Forcepoint has discovered a DDoS competition which requires participants install a DDoS software which contains a backdoor. An anonymous reader quotes CSO: A hacker in Turkey has been trying to encourage distributed denial-of-attacks by making it into a game, featuring points and prizes for attempting to shut down political websites... Users that participate will be given a tool known as Balyoz, the Turkish word for Sledgehammer, that can be used to launch DDoS attacks against a select number of websites... The attack tool involved is designed to only harass 24 political sites related to the Kurds, the German Christian Democratic Party -- which is led by Angela Merkel -- and the Armenian Genocide, and others... Forcepoint noticed that the DDoS attack tool given to the participants also contains a backdoor that will secretly install a Trojan on the computer.

The Christian Democratic Union is the right wing party in Germany, and Merkel has been the poster-pimp for allowing thousands of Muslim refugees from Syria to come in and rape German citizens. If the Social Democrats were smart, they'd have seized the initiative and transformed themselves into the anti-Muslim party of Germany, even while retaining other left wing positions

End result is neo-Nazi parties getting elected b'cos nobody can raise legitimate objections to Muslims being allowed indiscriminately into the EU w/o being dubbed racist. Well, if that's gonna happen anyway and their choice is to either be that, or invite their new Muslim neighbors to either rape them or slit their throats, guess what they're gonna do. So 50 years of relentless shaming the Germans about Nazism has reached the breaking point, particularly when you have a religious ideology that is at least as venal, if not more, in Germany.

Even while this happens, it's perfectly okay for Turks to celebrate Turkish supremacy - be it anything from Kurdish self-determination to the Armenian genocide. And then people wonder why people like Marina Le Pen look like getting elected. Keep it up, and the BNP would probably end up w/ its man in 10 Downing Street.

One actually is nothing like the other.

While Kurds may be Muslims, they happen to be less fanatical for one plain reason: they have always been exposed to the Arab supremacist side of Islam. One of the salient things about Islam is that it's about Arab supremacy, even within the ummah (world's Muslim population). So when Arabs and non Arab Muslims come into contact, that becomes a rivalry that spills out into the open. It's the case in Kurdistan, and it's the case in Sudan: the entire persecution of Black Muslims in Darfur was done at the behest of the Arab regime in Khartoum, that never recognized them as authentic Muslims. So countries that have Arab and non Arab populations see that rivalry. While countries that have an Arab minority e.g. Iran, Pakistan, et al are unlikely to be exposed to that. Besides that, the Kurds also have indigenous religions of their own, like Yezidi, Yarsan and also practice Christianity and Zoroastrianism.

The Turks are very different. Almost the entire history of the Turkic people - which actually started in the stans, was after they became Islamized: they don't have a pre-Islamic identity: in pre-Islamic times, they were a part of the Iranian, Chinese and Mongol empires. They came into their own after being Islamized, and ran several empires from Europe to India, and that is one of the things they take pride in. As a result, short of a Kemalesque takeover, they cannot be de-Islamized, and even Kemal's rule was never about moderation: it was about replacing the cult of Muhammad w/ the cult of Ataturk. As an example, the Armenian genocide happened under Ataturk, not under the Ottoman sultans.

What is a shame is that in its attempt to pander to unicorns such as moderate Arabs and secular Turks, the US has put the aspirations of Kurds on the backburner. There is no good reason to. After the occupation of Iraq, that country should have been split up along sectarian lines: Iraq's and Syria's current borders are something drawn by the Brits and French in 1918, not a result of the ethnic boundaries b/w the various groups that are always at each other's throats. Same thing ought to happen in Syria. Such a thing would mean that there should be an independent Kurdistan, as well as Sunni and Shia territories. If the Turks don't like that just b'cos the eastern third of their country is Kurdish, too bad: that cannot be the criteria for denying Kurds in Syria and Iraq self determination. In fact, given how none of these countries - Iran, Turkey, Syria or Iraq - is our friend, Kurdistan should indeed be carved out of all of them and recognized as an independent country, contingent on them becoming either secular, or a country that is religiously pluralistic and where Islam enjoys no special status.
