AlphaBay Owner Used Email Address For Both AlphaBay and LinkedIn Profile.
BarbaraHudson writes: The Register is reporting that Alexandre Cazes, the 25-year-old Canadian running the dark web site AlphaBay, was using a hotmail address easily connected to him via his Linkdin profile to administer the site. From the report: "[A]ccording to U.S. prosecutors, he used his real email address, albeit a Hotmail address -- Pimp_Alex_91@hotmail.com -- as the administrator password for the marketplace software. As a result, every new user received a welcome email from that address when they signed up to the site, and everyone using its password recovery tool also received an email from that address. However, rather than carefully set up and then abandon that email address, it turns out that Alexandre Cazes -- Pimp Alex -- had been using that address for years. Cazes had also used his Pimp Alex Hotmail address as well as an email address from his own business -- EBX Technologies -- to set up online bank accounts and crypto-currency accounts. How did law enforcement know that Cazes was behind EBX Technologies? It was on his LinkedIn profile."
BarbaraHudson adds: "His laptop wasn't encrypted, so expect more arrests as AlphaBay users are tracked down."

He could be both - my guess is that he's just taken the fall and now it's neatly tidied up, no-one's looking for the real people behind it all
Just a week after Cazes was arrested and dumped in a Thai jail, he was found dead in his cell. The authorities say it was suicide.

?! I paid special attention to make that post as clear as I could to everyone and even though someone still misunderstands it?! Not trying to offend you, but I found your reply quite surprising. See, the title is a quote of the summary and the first paragraph tries to answer that quote in a jokish way. The following paragraphs explain why the first paragraph should be understood as a joke. I do recognise that its structure isn't too clear and it even includes various grammar/spelling mistakes; I wasn't planning to write a so long post (it came up on the go). Hopefully, everything is clear now.

As I'm reading this story through multiple sources... I can't help being in awe of the sheer majesty of stupidity and willful ignorance on this guy's part.
Not to say I'm condoning illegal activity- I'm not.
This is what happens when an idiot clones an idea (an illegal darkweb marketplace) while not having an inkling of the implications of his actions. Not even considering that there have been multiple dark sites taken down by far more technically adept means. Not understanding that a clearnet e-mail address is completely traceable- sometimes even through a proxy.
The owner of this "site" was completely ignorant of anything network related... which means the use of any anonymizing network is useless.

/. doesn't allow direct HTML in comments, been that way 20 years. If you want to do quasi-HTML, learn to write HTML entities. Like </sarcasm> has to be written like </sarcasm> Oh and the & itself is written & in case you're wondering. Lots of entities won't work though, only a small white-list. Particularly I miss the Greek letters for formulas, though most western characters are there like üöæøåñçß. Forget the rest of Unicode though, not happening...

Why? Because I describe the most logical "issues" which a person like you (= cowardly and unmotivatedly attacking someone by relying on ridiculously generic reference including lots of different people) might have? Do you see me attacking others for no reason? Doing it anonymously (FYI, I have always use this account for all my posts here)? Relying on generic labels to somehow attack a big proportion of people? If you see me doing any of that stuff, you can safely start assuming that I might have the kind of problems which I guess that you have.

having never had any contact with illegal issues/people
Is there ANY adult who can say that? Heck, is there any KID who can say that, given that 1 out of 10 people have a juvenile record? And let's not forget everyone who was the victim of illegal activity, a scam, fraud, etc.
And with the history of the church, even nuns in a convent can't say that with any certainty.

Although you are kind of right, it is also a matter of (uninvited) audience. I don't need to explain anything when talking directly or even by writing to the right audience. The problem with internet and mainly with my attitude is that I have been lately attracting a kind of audience very far away from being my target. This self-invited-and-getting-everything-wrong people have proven be kind of bothering; not exactly a problem, but kind of a time waste. All my over-clarifications are addressed to these individuals; even though they never get anything right, not even step-by-step explanations. I might plainly ignore those people and not explain anything (because explaining is precisely what makes me waste time). But can I say? This is who I am. LOL.

Poe's law is an adage of Internet culture stating that, without a clear indicator of the author's intent, it is impossible to create a parody of extreme views so obviously exaggerated that it cannot be mistaken by some readers or viewers as a sincere expression of the parodied views.
The original statement of the adage, by Nathan Poe, was:
Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is utterly impossible to parody a Creationist in such a way that someone won't mistake for the genuine article.
Or, for the tl;dr version: "You're doing sarcasm wrong." :-)
(See the smiley face? That's how it's done)

[_] British w/ terminally elabourate sense of humour
[_] Ich habe das Pergers Syndroem
You have serious Aspergers, right? I don't mean one or two isolate issues, but some serious stuff going on like being fixated for no reason or being verbose more or less regularly.
Do you have problems to get context/sarcasm right? I will try to help you by analysing the previous comment. Let's get started... The first question coming to the mind of a Aspergers-challenged individual is "how can I know that this isn't serious? The poster might be actually doing all these things!" The trick is trying to find a more or less absolute reference point helping you to assess the seriousness of the given statement. Ideally, you should know something about the background/knowledge/personality/expectations/etc. of the given person; but in some cases like here, it might even be enough with just having a clear enough understanding of the world surrounding you. There are even some generic approaches on which you might rely; some examples: have you ever done or actually met a person doing such a thing? Is this about some kind of information which doesn't make too much sense to give out? Is the given person getting any kind of benefit by telling you all this? (It might sound a bit surprising to you most of people care much more about themselves/closer-to-them-persons than about you!!). Do you think that is there any sensible motivation justifying what you are reading/hearing other than tremendous stupidity/craziness (-> in this context, these should be understood as resources quickly, easily and pseudo-magically explaining what you don't want/cannot adequately understand)?
Even without knowing anything about me (+ by forgetting about the fact that this is account clearly linked to myself, like all my other online resources, and that internet is precisely the main channel for my business), having never had any contact with illegal issues/people, having never read something on the lines of my first message before, etc. you should know that people don't usually buy bazookas (neither for personal use or as a wedding gifts). You should also know that even in case of doing such a thing, people performing even slightly illegal actions aren't usually telling about those actions openly in internet (much less in a site with lots of traffic where the posts cannot be edited/deleted). Certain people (you don't need to know too much about me, just to skim through my profile here or even just know that the fact of contributing in this site already tells something about my probable personality/background) performing certain actions and/or being interested by certain items are also quite unlikely scenarios.
By putting all the aforementioned ideas together, the conclusion is that virtually anyone should be able to adequately understand my original comment as a joke just by making a slightest effort. So, what kind of people will be probably misunderstanding this or similar comments? Either the ones wanting to find something which doesn’t exist (why? No idea. Perhaps self-confidence issues or trying to attack me for whatever reason or similar) or the ones not accepting themselves/their understanding capabilities and not making as much effort as they really need to adequately understand. That’s why I think that most of misunderstandings (mainly of so extreme statements which, according to my personal experience, are being misinterpreted relatively easily) can be avoided with a bit of effort/(self-)acceptation/not-believing-in-magical-nonsense; without forgetting about the rarely-used-by-some-people-but-extremely-effective-with-me old approach of asking directly.
It's funny how an idiot ran this and had 300,000 other idiots that actually signed up to use the service. That's the problem. People running this shit don't fully understand being anonymous. It's fucking really hard work and takes constant awareness before you do anything online. One slip and the anonymity is compromised. This fuck face used an email that he used on linkedIn and could not even be bothered to get a secure email that he didn't use for anything else. I guess that's just too much work. Well have fun in prison you fucking moron. Side note, the Silk Road was lead by a similar individual....which is why the outcome is equal. If you really want to stay anonymous and do bad shit on the internet then you can create a fucking ebay for illegal activity and if you do you damn well better be prepared to do it properly which is not as easy as fucking logging into linkedin.

British w/ terminally elabourate sense of humour
I am not exactly a grammar nazi, but I am pretty sure that elabourate isn't a word (the "ou" trick works in quite a few context, but not always). Also bear in mind that I am a Spaniard, so this would be Spanish humour (-> see? Here you can do it).
I am afraid that you misunderstood my post (I guess that you don't have aspergers and that's why everything distracts you and even reading a simple text is too much for you; did a fly come into your room where you were at it or perhaps another person appeared and you had to win his approval before continuing reading? Sorry for having missed that bit). The joke was the first paragraph; not exactly a joke, a non-serious statement. The other paragraphs were meant to help people with understanding-problems (you seem an excellent candidate) to get the meaning of the first paragraph right. Read the post again; people like you usually need to read a text various times before fully understanding it.
Ich habe das Pergers Syndroem
German isn't your strongest suit either, eh? Perhaps you meant Aspergers. See, "das" is a German article which cannot replace the starting part of the noun to which it complements. So, you should have written das Aspergers.
By following your orders (because apparently I have aspergers and this is what we always do: blindly follow orders of random people because we do need to feel validated by those doing everything much worse than we do -> this is sarcasm; I know that without that clarification you wouldn't have got it), I cannot chose any of these options. As said, this wasn't (much) humour and certainly not British (although written in kind-of British English, simply because I learned in the UK). I haven't ever been diagnosed with the Asperger's Syndrome, even though random "people" anonymously talking to me in internet might decide other thing.
Thanks for having confirmed my preliminary assumptions: you have serious problems. Hopefully, you aren't been trusted with anything relevant to anyone. In this particular case, I didn't, because you managed to be so over the top that even poe's law doesn't apply, but, in general, yes. Sarcasm is indistinguishable from cluelessness, and there is plenty of cluelessness around, even here in the genius-level posts of genius-among-geniuses slashdot geniuses.
Ideally, you should know something about the background/knowledge/personality/expectations/etc. of the given person
You got it. You could have stopped posting there, that is 90% of the the reason cluelessness is indistinguishable from irony on the net.
You turn out to be so fucking brilliant that you only write posts that are clear and unambiguous because you can instantly figure out how other people decode your posts even though you don't know anything about them or they about you. That's because your brilliance is almost like telepathy, you understand where everybody is coming from. But, you know, a lot of slashdotters aren't quite at your level of perfection, and only think that they understand how everyone is able to decode text that says the opposite of what is actually meant.

If I knew that, I wouldn't haven't had written anything. Anyway...
Sorry but your aspie-driven speech is prejudicious. You cannot treat people generically by assuming that a given generic feature has a certain behaviour associated. This is the same than racism, xenophobia or transphobia (perhaps you know something about that?). Just FYI, I haven't ever been diagnosed with the Asperger syndrome; but even if I was, this is only relevant for kids (or for adults which, unluckily for them, were diagnosed as kids and grew into how to call them... Asperger-aware adults?!). Adults/people belonging to similar groups behave completely differently, thinking otherwise is against many things in which I am sure that you believe. If I don't like what you say, it would be because of you, not because of the country you come from, your race, your genetic features, your sexual orientation, etc.

It seems that you are still not getting the point of my post. It was meant to help understand how to spot sarcasm to those having problems on this front. The first paragraph was a mere sample. I did have had some misunderstandings here at quite a few points, but I think that the problems is that my target audience is too small and this site/internet is too big. I rarely have understanding problems with kind-of-like-me people, having equivalent humour or even those knowing me. I have problems here where a relevant number of people don't get the ideas right; in most of the cases, they don't even read the posts completely and some of mine are a bit intricate. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion, but I am fine with my personality and humour as it is right now.
Sarcasm is a weapon
No doubt on that. In fact, some people think that eventually I have too aggressive sarcasm-intensive reactions. But this post was pretty neutral and I was expecting it to be almost ignored. So many comments, so many aggressive attitudes, the downvotes... the whole thing was completely unexpected. Not exactly a problem (the aforementioned poor persons feeling bored! These are the ones having serious problems! LOL), but I was asking out of pure curiosity.

You don't know what an internet troll is? Or is that a misinterpretation of my phrase "inner troll"?
The "inner troll" is based on the fact that humans are by nature a very aggressive species. We eat our young (yes, it's even an observation of human nature made repeatedly in the bible):
2 Kings 6:26-29
As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, "Help me, my lord the king!"
The king replied, "If the Lord does not help you, where can I get help for you? From the threshing floor? From the winepress?" Then he asked her, "What's the matter?"
She answered, "This woman said to me, 'Give up your son so we may eat him today, and tomorrow we'll eat my son.' So we cooked my son and ate him. The next day I said to her, 'Give up your son so we may eat him,' but she had hidden him."
Jeremiah 19:9 (also Ezek 5:10)
I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and daughters, and they will eat one another's flesh during the stress of the siege imposed on them by the enemies who seek their lives.
Lamentations 4:10
With their own hands compassionate women
have cooked their own children,
who became their food
when my people were destroyed.
Pretty gruesome, but it follows what other mammals do. In times of stress, the adults eat the young who are not strong enough to survive on their own, so as to ensure that when there are better times, they can produce more young.
We've evolved all sorts of passive-aggressive techniques, rallying cries for making war ("rally around the flag", etc), making killing seem like the right thing to do at the time to large parts of the population.
For internet trolls, just look at the personal attacks I get for changing sex. They eventually realize that I am totally shameless about it and go away to find more fertile grounds, only to be replaced by others trying to get an angry response. But in the meantime some of the sparring can help develop your debating form - to be able to argue with idiots without stooping to their level and having them beat you up with their experience (at being an idiot).
Always be aware that someone might be trolling you. It's the internet, after all. Almost everyone is anonymous - some hide behind nyms (names they post under that are not their real names), others post anonymously. I choose not to be, which is why my nym is my legal name. I believe that with freedom of speech comes the responsibility to stand by what you said - to "own it." It's going to happen anyway (as if it's possible to be truly anonymous on the internet - hah!)
Courage. You'll get the hang of it.

We've still got the Internet equivalent of the phone book. I've claimed before to be posting from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the one David Thornley living there has not suffered in the slightest by being traceable, so I agree that being outspoken on Slashdot and easily traceable is not a problem.

It's Autism Spectrum Disorder now. (Names change. I've had three different diagnosis names for the same problem.) Adults who are eventually diagnosed with ASD do have certain problems, even when undiagnosed as children. I'm hesitant to call it a disorder and nothing else, but it does come with problems.

Agreed. I've posted all my contact info in the story where Briana Wu (apparently falsely) claims to have been doxxed. Still haven't gotten any hate mail. (Kind of surprising considering all the hate posts I garner) Still don't see why people are so scared that somebody might know where they live. I also don't see the advantage, since not being identifiable tends to diminish your credibility.

I've already had to deal with one schizoid who killed right in front of me. I'm well aware that I'm lucky to be alive. As for living in a privileged place, yes I do. It's called Canada. Even our right-wing politicians are to the left of what passes for "liberal" in the states. A real "liberal-thinking" US government would bring in universal health care. The dems had a chance with Sanders, and they did everything to make it not happen.

I'm hesitant to call it a disorder and nothing else, but it does come with problems.
Personally, I think that it comes with advantages rather than with problems. I think that most of the disadvantages are made up by a fearful and short-sighted society. In any case, note that I had some bad past experiences regarding all this and that's why I am not too interested in getting involved in a conversation on these lines. For what matters here: I have never been diagnosed with any of the "disorders" you refer and I think that this should also have been the case of everyone else; I think that parents/society should worry about kids having real problems rather than just being slightly different (but tolerant, honest, never bothering others, etc.), because they might be doing more harm than good.
Additionally, you (and people in your situation) should bear in mind that part of everyone's growing process is to know themselves properly regardless of what any other person says. Everyone has problems or, at least, this is what they think. Everything is a matter of perspective: feeling bored or not being invited to whatever event might be the end of the world for some people; but others would happily have those problems in exchange of stop feeling hunger or living in a war zone. Some problems seem easily correctable; they might even be made-up problems which can stop being there at will.

You don't know what an internet troll is? Or is that a misinterpretation of my phrase "inner troll"?
People call everyone troll too easily these days and for whatever reason. This was pretty much my point. On the other hand, I am not too sure about the exact meaning of "trolling" used in the internet context, in the sense of having never had such urges. It seems that it involves randomly bothering others for the sole reason of bothering (and/or to release own frustration), a concept which is extremely difficult for me to grasp. I have never felt the need to do such a thing. I have never felt belittled by others. I accept my failures and all the actions on which I have no control; I don't think that I have never felt frustration. Sometimes, I might feel sadness or pity or (aggressive) passion, but my behaviour will always aim to help/correct rather than to arbitrarily damage others or gratuitously release anger.
The rest of your post talks about what you have gone through and about how this has made you stronger. I am always happy to read about people growing stronger and more self-aware. The higher is your self-confidence, the more likely is that you will have a positive impact on society and others. I understand that you say all this to somehow help me (-> see? Strong people tend to have a positive impact on others) and, hopefully, this will not demotivate you but I don't exactly need it. Although I understand that some people might have serious problems to understand it, my position is surprisingly comfortable. I think that the key idea is not needing what many other people do (I always say about myself that, by applying the-less-you-need-the-richer-you-are interpretation, I am the richest person I know). When you see some of my behaviours you are automatically assuming things which don't really apply to me. For example, you think that I over-explain to somehow protect myself, but my motivation is right the contrary: I want to avoid people to hurt themselves or to be in a position which they might not like. If I was only thinking about myself, I wouldn't have said a word.
Anyway, it was a nice conversation. Thanks for all your help and meaning so well. See you around.

To be fair I've done that more than one time. I accept that I'm a human and humans do fuck up (well other animals do too but that isn't relevant). If someone* calls me an idiot maybe I was, maybe I have to explain my position/experience better or maybe it is just a throw-away insult.
(* that isn't Linus Torvalds, never seen it used as anything other than an insult - often for people simply having a difference in opinion)
Thanks. BTW, this is an example from yesterday of trolling. Trying to get an angry emotional response from the intended victim is the goal. What emotional need it fulfills in the troll is a matter of much debate. Part of the problem is that both anonymity and pseudo-anonymity have been shown to lower people's inhibitions towards antisocial behaviour.
Subsequently, people carry this same behaviour to all their internet transactions out of habit, which explains the sewer that is Facebook. And it then feeds on itself. Same as the trolls elsewhere. That's why we say "don't feed the trolls." They feed off of negative emotions. Far more fun to troll them back - and tell them that's exactly what you're doing. Drives them nutszo :-)

Pretty hard stuff! But I guess that it isn't precisely too hurtful for you. This guy/gal seems to have quite a few "issues". I don't belong to any group being the typical target of irrational hate and this might be the reason why I don't have too much experience with trolls. I have seen idiots saying some incoherent nonsense, but I am usually the one being more aggressive in those situations; although I never do anything on the lines of what you are showing, never anonymously (to attack other person? How can you do such a thing without feeling tremendously ashamed of yourself?) and always as a reaction (the given stupid arbitrarily attacked me in the first place). I mostly focus on their limited knowledge, understanding capabilities, principles, self-esteem, etc., usually by adding some humorous bits (which they rarely get). But just writing a set of generic insults, by doing it anonymously and without any provocation? I will never get it!

There have been days when there are more than 100 such posts distributed throughout various stories - or even in one story. It doesn't bother me because I know who I am. I'm very much aware of my imperfections, and I admit to them, so what's the big deal. I have no secrets, so it's not like they'll ever "discover" anything that can be used to embarrass me.
Now this isn't to say I'm against privacy - to the contrary, I'm very much in favour of the individual's right to privacy, as well as freedom of speech, except for speech that incites hatred. These rights are not "natural rights", but human rights, defined by humans, and as such we get to decide what the limits are. It has to be balanced against accountability. As such, people who post anonymously really can't be taken seriously because they're hiding from being accountable. If they won't take themselves seriously, why should anyone else?
Different countries strike different balances. This is an example of a very unbalanced system of human rights:
The five teenagers, aged 14 to 16, can be heard laughing as they record more than two minutes of the man struggling to stay afloat in a pond near his family's home.
The boys can be heard taunting the man, saying that he was "going to die."
"Ain't nobody going to help you, you dumb bitch. You shouldn't have got in there," one of the boys says.
When the victim, Jamel Dunn, 31, slips beneath the water, a voice can be heard saying "he dead" and there is laughing.
One of the teens then suggested calling police but was dismissed by his friends.
Here the law makes it clear that everyone has a legal obligation to come to the assistance of someone in distress. Contrast that to this:
Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, in a 2012 legal argument, summarized that across the U.S. there's no general duty to render aid to someone in distress.
On Friday, the office of State Attorney Phil Archer issued a statement saying that charges were unlikely.
"We were asked to make a preliminary review of the video regarding any potential charges for failure to provide aid," the state attorney's office said. "Unfortunately, there is currently no statute in Florida law that compels an individual to render, request or seek aid for a person in distress. We are, however, continuing to research whether any other statute may apply to the facts of this case."
This depraved indifference extends throughout the US justice system
"You don't have the duty to rescue someone if that person is in danger. The blind man is walking in front of a car and you do not have a duty to stop him absent some relation between you," Kennedy said in arguments on the Affordable Care Act.
Kennedy added that there are "some severe moral criticisms of that rule, but that's generally the rule."
There's a real need to either scrap the constitution and begin from scratch, or split the country up. Then again, it won't see the tricentenial, not with people feeling they have no obligations towards each other, even when someone is dying and needs help - and kids are learning they don't even have to do something as simple as call 911.
"Transparent" is a shit show that trades on every stereotype going. A man in drag is NOT a transsexual.
I am speechless with your last references! I thought that it was a common approach in almost any country to legally force everyone to help others in danger. In my country (Spain), this obligation seems (info from a quick internet research) to be divided into 4 sub-categories which can be roughly translated to: not helping someone in danger (3-12 months in jail); not asking for help when you are not in a position to help someone in danger (3-12 months in jail); not helping someone in a traffic accident which you provoked (6-18 months in jail), what doesn't compensate your responsibility for having provoked that accident; medical staff obligated to help someone and not doing so might be charged for up to negligent homicide.
I personally don't care too much about legislation forcing me to do what is right, because I would do it anyway. On the other hand, legal/governmental bodies are precisely meant to set ground rules ensuring everyone's actions to respect the common good; and helping someone in danger seems pretty basic stuff on this front. Some weeks ago, I saw this shocking video (and I am not precisely an easily-shockable person) about a woman being run over twice without anyone helping her! After seeing it, the first idea coming to my mind was precisely "how can all these people not do anything even just to avoid going to jail?"; I couldn't believe that a legal system (not even in China!) might not have regulations of this kind.

Some ideas ideas for you:
- I only get warnings when logged-in users reply to my posts. So, if you reply to any of my comments as an AC, I might not even be aware about it.
- The Spanish being used in Spain, in other Spanish-speaking country and the one taught in non-Spanish-speaking countries might differ a lot. Mainly, when dealing with slang, familiar expression or even implicit meanings associated with the given culture. For me, "Los Pollos Delicados" has pretty much no direct/implicit meaning.
- From the context of this whole discussion and what seems your intention, I understand that you are trying to imply that I take things personally too easily or that I complain a lot and for almost no reason. This is certainly not the case. This was an explanations-intensive thread (as explained somewhere, not precisely meant to help me but others) and this is plainly what I have done. I also think that certain easily-understood-as-acceptable behaviours are pernicious (again, not precisely for myself but in general) and I do tend to react pretty aggressively against them, just as a way to contribute towards its eradication. People getting offended by my reactions to what they started are the ones being "delicados" here (-> you shouldn’t start something if you are not willing to deal with its consequences).
- You seriously thinking that your comment belongs to the same league, even to the same sport, even to the same type of sport, etc. than the excellent sample written by that other AC tells a lot about your lacks: you are just not having, but also not being aware about that fact. You should better focus on accepting yourself and what you have (and not), before moving to anything else.

Nah, slashdot idiots all think they're geniuses, so you've just removed yourself from that pool by even considering that you might not know everything about everything.
I do not want your cheap brainburning drugs. They are useless for work. And I am a working man today.
That's APK. He's completely fucking insane. Once on a night shift, years ago, I delved into his shit all over the internet. Crazy fucker. Notice I'm posting AC; that's because I can't be bothered with him latching onto me on slashdot.
The business of not easily assimilating social norms implicitly is a problem. I could consciously learn how to behave until I hit what should have been my time to start dating. After that, it got unpleasant.
This isn't a matter of society shunning us for being different (although that happened, I could cope with it). It's not knowing what to do. I needed special education which I didn't get in order to function properly.

Actually, a guy my wife dated twice before she met me was convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend, , but that's not relevant to the Internet. If someone really wants to track me down with a machete, they've got a lot of possible ways. (I'd rather they attacked when I can reach the living room and the high-quality replica thirteenth-century sword, myself.) I have chosen to accept the slight additional risk in exchange for not worrying about being traced. The coward dies a thousand deaths, the brave man but one (although sometimes sooner than the coward's thousandth).

The business of not easily assimilating social norms implicitly is a problem.
Why are you saying that? I will answer it for you: because you have been told to think that way, to think that you have an intrinsic limitation that you really haven't. As explained, this whole "problem" should only be relevant in the first stages of learning, when you are a kid not doing all what other kids do. Imagine that you weren't ever diagnosed (not too many years ago, nobody was being diagnosed for all this; what do you think that happened back then? People had also problems and happy lives) and that you gradually grew and learned. Perhaps by having some problems which other people didn't have and learning certain things slower, but nothing to worry about (big deals in the moment, seen as funny episodes some years later). You might even reach a point where you can choose what approach to have: you can be as social as you wish (you didn't learn that as quickly as others and as intuitively, but you eventually did) or have an attitude which makes you feel more comfortable (e.g., only dealing with the people you want without having the real need of having lots of friends). Doing all this is very difficult when being a kid or a teen (much more difficult with adults worrying about each even slightly different bit); it is very easy to do what you are being told, to believe what other people tell you, to rely on excuses and to be afraid of anything. But nothing of this is strictly required when you become an adult, unless you wish it (-> this is the key idea which I am trying to transmit: it is just a matter of wanting, of deciding, not of being).
:)
As said and without wanting to be impolite, I am not interested in participating in certain kind of discussions, what-if scenarios and what certain people should (not) do. I had some bad experiences on this front in the past. All what I am telling you (just in case you find it useful, otherwise ignore it) is that: you should know yourself; you aren't a list of specific features/reactions/behaviours; you are not equal (not even similar) to other people having the same generic features than you; you can do whatever you want to do, what feels that is better for you, not what someone has told that you have to be/feel/become. It is very easy to talk from my position (and I know that) and that's why I cannot even dare to suggest you what to do on any front. I am just sharing some generic ideas in case you find them useful at some point. Use them or not, completely up to you, but let's better cut it here. Sorry, but I don't see the point of continuing this conversation. It was nice
