Google in Talks To Transform Its Instant News Articles Into a Snapchat Rival (cnbc.com)

Google is talking to several publishers about a technology that's similar to Snapchat, according to a Friday report in The Wall Street Journal. From the report: The technology, dubbed "Stamp," could be revealed as soon as next week and contain content from Vox Media, CNN, Mic, the Washington Post and Time, the Journal reported. Stamp is a word play on Google's faster-loading "AMP" articles (the news stories that appear at the top of the page after a Google search), and the "st" in "stories." Snapchat's disappearing publisher content is in a section of the app called "Discover." The ephemeral feature of Snapchat is something Facebook has also mimicked with a feature called "Stories." The report comes on the heels of another report on Business Insider earlier this week which claimed that Google has been trying to acquire Snapchat for sometime. The company, according to a report, offered Snapchat $30 billion.

So it is a useful post.
And it's relevant, because it's another google news product. One that looks to me to be as useful as the current version of google news.

I swear to god, I'd like to start a pizza parlor in Silly Valley, and even though I may have revenues of maybe $2million and free cash flows of $100K, I could sell it to those people for a couple hundred million dollars. As long as I have an app and a website, I'd be considered a tech company. And if I can get Elon to eat there, I could get a billion dollars for it.

You'd think they're playing with Monopoly money out there.

Nope, but our worthless fiat currency is essentially Monopoly money, so there's that.

Regarding this, Google News is worthless now. It's basically just a WaPo feed and if I wanted that, I'd read it directly. It used to actually have an interesting assortment of news, but that was a long time ago. They ruined even the Health section, I get utter quackery now, even spam viagra ads. And I remove all cookies so no, it's not personalized. I wouldn't even see that garbage but for them and I certainly don't click on it.
