The Graphic Art of 'Incredibles 2' (joshholtsclaw.com)
Josh Holtsclaw, a Graphic Artist at Pixar Animation Studios, writes: I remember seeing the first Incredibles film in college with a few friends. We went on opening night and the theater was packed. I remember thinking that the way the movie opened with the old film footage of a younger Mr Incredible, Elastigirl and Frozone being interviewed was such a different way to open an animated film, and it just got better from there. The whole thing was so stylized and just...cool. I loved the mid century aesthetic. When I got to Pixar and heard that they were working on a sequel, I knew I wanted to be a part of it.
I joined the Incredibles 2 art department in the Fall of 2016 and one of the first things we did as a group was take a research trip to Palm Springs. At the time, the story was still in its early stages and a few of the sets were under way. There was still a lot left to do and Palm Springs was the perfect one-stop-spot for us to find design inspiration. We were able to take an architectural tour of the city and had access to private homes that aren't usually open to the public. One of the most memorable houses was the Frey house which was designed by architect Albert Frey and was also his personal residence. It sits on a hill looking down on Palm Springs. Do check out the pictures on Holtsclaw's blog.

That's it. My penis, your butt, let's go.
50% about "me" and "I" and irrelevant insertions into what otherwise could be interesting.
Don't care.
Great work if you can get it.

The Frey House? They told me it was destroyed. They *told me* it couldn't be repaired. Grrrrnahhhhh!

Are grown people supposed to talk about cartoon movies?
Indeed. Currently, no laws against that. Perhaps a brief refresher is in order ....
Avatar 1 and 2
Half the footage of most Star Wars movies.
Heavy Metal
Fantasia
Wizards
Toy Story 2
Another Bakshi producion, Fritz the Cat
Yellow Submarine
Ghost in the Shell
And my list can't be complete without a couple from Nick Park & Aardman Animations, Chicken Run and Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers
I'm obviously leaving off a few Disney epics and some Japanese cult classics. But yes, grownups can talk about animation.
The Russians have won. They have made the world a cesspool of distrust, greed, fear and hate.
Would love to reproduce that effect on one of my websites.
wtf is the point of this broken old man story, grandpa simpson is that you?
Listing some movies shows why adults should talk about cartoons? On Slashdot?
Ok, list it is. You forgot:
Pink Floyd: The Wall
Toy Story 1, which was the true groundbreaker
As to the Wallace & Gromit et al, is claymation relegated to cartoon status?
Ok, for the next list of movies to talk about, how about Japanese movies longer than 4 hours?
