Katmai outgunned by AltiVec

Motorola's Altivec will sport 160 new instructions manipulating 32 128-bit registers, versus Katmai's 8 128-bit registers. It also includes a vector permute instruction, which as anyone who has coded MMX would know, would be pretty useful if it is fast. Ed: If vendors start using this, we may see PowerPC becoming more attractive again for media apps, such as Adobe Photoshop.
