Shannon's law revisted

Researchers at Bell Labs have now taken into account the fact that Shannon's law applies to point-to-point communications. Instead they considered the interference effects arising from signals bouncing off objects between the transmitter and the receiver. This new volume-to-volume communication theory, which takes 3-dimensional space into account, may enable the capacity of certain wireless links to be boosted between 10 and 20 times. The article is the third on this page. The first article is also interesting: it talks about using optical fibres for 1Ghz communication systems' busses (which may eventually trickle down to computers)
