Finnish Linux Installfest
Panu Hällfors writes
"The first one installfest ever in Finland takes place in Ulvila from 16. to 17. January. I'm expecting something like 60 to 70 new installs and of course about as much experienced users to drop by to lend a hand to new users. We'll probably install mainly the new RedHat derivate SOT-Linux which is translated to Finnish. More info can be found on the Internet site of the event, "> here (In Finnish and *only accesible from Finland*)
"
I thought this was supposed to be the WWW: WORLD Wide Web!
Ah, yes.
And after all, why would people outside Finland
be interested in that information?
Perkele, I'd almost say.
:-)
Indeed, this is very annoying. Even though we don't understand a word of finnish we should have the right to at least satisfy our curiosity.
Oh well, perhaps we ought to just buy or download the finnish distro for the heck of it? Are there any finnish dictionaries online?
Well I'd be pleased to show it to the whole world
but I happen to host a server that has no foreign
connections (it simply costs) and putting those
pages somewhere else is not good as I need to access and update them very often.
IMHO SOT-linux is quite a ripoff. It's basically red hat with KDE in Finnish and the finnish keymap installed and some finnish docs. Suomen Ohjelmisto Työ are ripping people off with their 349 FIM charge (roughly 55 euro / 70 USD).

The worst thing? Well somehow I feel they're ``pissing us in the lense''. One has to register(!) to download the distribution. It's sickening, I wonder what RMS would say
Who's that?
Ahh.. But he wouldn't be able to access it. Not from transmeta.com (in California) at least.
You shouldn't write in finnish only as it could be of interest to others too.
(joo, joo, Olet ittekin soumalainen)
News for Finns. Stuff that matters.

"Välttämättä?" Hmm..
