Neal Stephenson Essay

An amazing number of people wrote in to say that the link we posted in Tuesday's Quickies to Neal Stephenson's Essay was to cool to just be a quickie. I totally agree. So I've decided to give it its own story just to make sure that nobody misses out on this thing, and to give everyone a real chance to talk about it. Its long, but its really excellent.
